That isn't my point. Even if they do branch out, do they have to do it in such a superficial manner.

They do it in whatever type of show is (or is deemed to be) popular at the time.

Anyway, I doubt they'll start to pick and choose which shows they branch out into, purely dependent upon what you like to watch.

What I don't understand is why you have to watch this? Quite frankly if you don't like it then you don't have to watch it. You're not forced.

Amen to that, brother Cool

I switched off after Kate's rather weird fit on the beach. It was just what I expected it to be. Self-indulgent pantomime.

I'll back myself up on my claim though, by quoting from my Saturday edition of the Indie which had a look at Kaplinsky.

Quote:
the British public has taken a closer personal interest in the divine Natasha than in her rival autocuties – an interest conveniently mirrored by Ms Kaplinsky's apparent desire to reveal more of herself to the cameras.

In fact I'll go further...:

Quote:
[Natasha crying] is the money shot the producers presumably wanted: Natasha Kaplinsky, omni-competent TV ice-queen, aghast and emotionally disarrayed.

I am NOT the only one to think of this.

However, from the horses mouth...:
Quote:
When it came to telling her father the grisly news about how his relatives met their fate, Kaplinsky refused to let the director film the scene. "I just thought, blow that – this is private. I put my foot down and the director respected my decision.

And I respect her for that.

As much as you respect her I hate this ongoing arguement and rudeness you have for Natasha Kaplinsky. As I have said in other posts, keep your hate to facebook, I bet you've never met the woman. She might patronise you but in person she is a nice friendly woman.

Jonathan I am sorry, I bear no venom towards you but know when to pull out of a thread man.
You're know quoting from a newspaper article which hardly seems balanced and quite sarcastic.
Programmes like what both have taken part in were quite challenging emotionally, I would rather they showed emotion than behaved like robots.
I cannot hand on heart think either would force tears to get better ratings, I don't like either of them as presenters but I don't think they or the BBC would stoop that low.
If one or both, swore, blasphemed, made a racist comment or grizzled during the news then condemn them - but these programme are designed to give the viewer an insight into the characters.
Surely if Kerplunksy was that desperate for ratings she would have got daddy on telly as well to maximise the anguish!

My point is not that she is acting, but rather using her emotions, which as you say were genuine, in order to enhance the programme.

Hear hear. Bring back The Woodentops, I say.

Her dad is on the programme.

Anyway, the article is from the Indie, it's not sarcastic, read the whole thing. I haven't met Natasha in person, but I don't need to. She's probably a lovely woman, all I'm citing is opportunism.
