Hello! My first post - how exciting!
Apologies if this topic is old-hat.
I notice that when people create mock designs, they're always keen to focus on astons, the BBC News tower, tickers, etc, in the expectation that news channels will feature these graphics. I personally think it would be quite refreshing if one of the channels were to relaunch without all of this patronising clutter. We know what channel we're watching, we can tell the time from looking at a watch/text/now & next banners, if they're talking about a particular subject, do we we really need this written across the screen to remind our useless brains? News 24 are so keen to promote 'headlines every 15 minutes' and they're so easily accesible via interactive, so why must they scroll along the screen? I really hate all the writing on News 24 - particularly the astons and the logo which take up so much room - does the title of the news item need to be so big? The main news broadcasts on BBC One etc don't need this clutter, so why do the news channels? I hope that someday, news channels will be brave enough to scrap the clutter or at least find some way of allowing the viewer to switch it off if they want! A bit of a rant, but I haven't been able to find this topic elsewhere...
