Online live news outlets

I've started looking in a bit more depth at what's available around the world, in terms of news websites offering pseudo TV operations. Yahoo News Live in the US has invested a lot. The operation looks great, but the company is struggling, so will it last?

In Sweden, Aftonbladet runs a pretty slick web TV channel. It used to be on terrestrial TV but the company decided web-only was the future.

In the UK, the Telegraph and Mail have dabbled in video content, but haven't completely embraced the concept of a 24 hour TV-lite operation. Just wondering what everyone thinks about them? Are they the future?

In the US there is CBSN- CBS News' 24hour news channel thats it also available on streaming devices. Quite a good alternative to the big 3 news channels.

Forgot about CBSN! I'm surprised outlets like The Guardian haven't considered this. It's a natural route as it bypasses the tough Ofcom rules on media bias.

Because, like CBS This Morning, CBSN tends to fly under the radar.

Im sure CNN has a live news feed but, it doesn't seem to like anyone outside the USA. Doesn't France or Germany have any live news streaming services?

The only ones I know of in France are simulcasts of the linear channels i>TELE, and BFMTV which aren't geoblocked. LCI recently started streaming in France in preparation for going FTA on April 5th, but not sure if you can watch in the UK as TF1 channels are geoblocked in the UK and I use a VPN.

Do you have the links to i>TELE, and BFMTV? Im also sure France24 has a live feed but it seems to be very low frame rate.

AJ's live feed and certain shows on the Youtube Channel and website is geoblocked in the US due to AJ America, but after AJAM shuts down, no idea if that geoblock stays on.

As already mentioned, France24 is available in English, French, and Arabic live online for free. There appear to be no geographic restrictions on them either. I've found the YouTube feed to be much higher quality than what's on their website. I play the YouTube stream on my AppleTV, and it's nearly impossible to tell that it's coming from online.

Euronews is available live on their website as well, though with some geographic restrictions. It's hit or miss in the US.

There are also several live news channels available on Livestation. They georestrict or put up a paywall for a lot of the big ones (BBC World, AJE, CNNI), but many are available for free.



CNNgo (CNN's own livestreaming platform) is only available to paying cable customers in the US, though it's a great service. It includes CNN Domestic, International and HLN, even though my regular cable package doesn't include CNNI.

Livestation offers CNN International as a premium feed (~€2/month or so if I'm not mistaken). It may only be available in the EMEA region though.
