Although they could have just run the normal Leeds titles. 99% of viewers wouldn’t have noticed any difference

Whilst that is correct, I do appreciate that they went to the effort rather than just using the normal titles. If anybody from Look North is reading this thread they are probably wondering why they bothered!

That said I'm surprised a joint version hadn't been made in advance for such an occasion as both programmes back each other up and share Breakfast.

Yeah, sans serif instead of serif, and no BBC News logo. Due to absent staff, perhaps?

Do you have any pictures?

What an amazing headline

It's a good headline, but not an original one:

I had a idea for a name for the merger. Pennines Today?

Manchester Tonight (incorporating parts of Leeds, Hull and Kings Lynn.)

How about "Look North"?

As daft as this tangent might sound, you all have a point. Pennines Today wouldn't suit those on the east coast, and I can't really imagine viewers in King's Lynn are particularly happy receiving a programme for the north, being in Norfolk and on a similar latitude to Norwich, Leicester, Derby/Nottingham and Shrewsbury, places I've never heard anyone refer to as even remotely northern - it sticks out like a sore thumb on the weather map. Its inclusion is the result of them and Hunstanton receiving a stronger signal from Belmont than any Look East transmitter, I believe.

And also because the East of the region was Anglia TV until 1974....

Yes, although Belmont has always been a BBC North regional transmitter. Pre 1968 programmes came from Manchester, so your earlier suggestion of Manchester Tonight is a bit ironic !

The rules have recently changed to discourage long megathreads.

Bizarrely the Look North thread was closed, but you are still allowed to discuss Look East and South Today along with others

If there's something noteworthy start a new thread, like this one was. But there's no day to day minutae thread.
