Thought this might be of interest to those who'd like a look at the strikes from a National and Local perspective. On my site, TVPres.UK, I've put online what BBC Breakfast, the News channel, and all of the regions (Excl. Newsline and Look North NE and Lincs) looked like on the day of the NUJ strikes, in a TVPres.UK special! You can take a look here.

Its quite amazing, that the BBC still haven't got their Regional News sets in line with one another (Like ITV do), theres some still stuck in the wooden floor 1999 era!
There are no studios left in that era anymore - the last proper one was Cambridge which was changed in late 2009. Look North Newcastle had elements of the studio (such as the wooden floor and desk) until their new studio also in late 2009.
Err yes there are studios left in that era still. You can see them on the link Critique provided. 3 regions still have the wooden floor design.
That's not the main design though, just the floor! If you look the sets are vastly different from 1999, all of them.
No cream, no red, no little 'windows', I think, certainly in EMT's case the floor was painted on and isn't actually laminate.
East Midlands Today had the wood effect painted on?

North West Tonight and Midlands Today: can you confirm who the lead female presenters are on strike day, as featured on your site? Very nice images by the way. Many thanks in advance.
Lead female presenter on Midlands Today? There's a man presenting Midlands Today in my captures, and he is, I believe, Paddy Burns. I'm not entirely sure who the woman for NWT is - maybe somebody else knows?

North West Tonight I believe was a lady called Michelle Mayman, also editor of NWT
One of the things I have been wondering about over the last few days is : Do the English BBC Regions use the same backdrop when they get their studios updated to the new set design (like the national news studios) or do they vary slightly for each region (in terms of design, not size)?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but there isn't a generic BBC Regions thread.

You think wrong, East Midlands Today definitely has a lino floor.

Hadn't noticed this! Thanks very much - that must have taken a lot of effort.

Cambridge was definately the last studio to have the full 1999 look. I used Look North as an example as their set kept the 1999 desk and the studio was was essentially just a repanel of the same studio shell. All the other studios have changed significantly or had a full refit since!

They're all slightly different; two regions have real newsrooms (SET and MT) so no issues there, though some red lightboxes might work on those, but the others are based on the same theme but Chris Webster tweaks them slightly,

You have mislabeled BBC Yorks and Lincs as "North and York" on that page. The presenter is Peter Levy who is the usual presenter (usually single-headed).
Also, as far as I could tell, only Northern Ireland didn't do any news at 22:25.

I assume BBC WORLD means EMT - that was Anne Davies who is one half of the usual presentation team (she did Breakfast the following morning during the previous strike).

There's a little cream Lambie-Narin set left in Carlisle in their down-the-line studio. When Carlisle were part of BBC North West they sub-opted daytime summaries from Carlisle - it may have been installed for that, but I cannot remember when they ended and when Carlisle transferred to Look North Newcastle.
Oxford and Jersey are now the only regional centres left with wholly non-standard news sets. Both are similar to each other though and have elements of BBC-ness to them (a blurred newsroom background) though they both contain a lot of red, a colour that has officially been dropped from news set design. Both also have wood laminate floors, red sofas/benches and grey semi-transparent desks. Both sets were designed by Chris Blow around 2006/7. As far as I know there are no plans to change either of them...
