You assume wrongly - neither the BBC or Sky had a truck at the European Council last week. Infact I don’t think any broadcaster did. Only a couple of years ago there’d be 10 or more parked outside, now none.


Did Sky News not have UKI-1912 there? During the summit there were two Sky feeds on 16E labelled and with test cards as such.

Have to correct that earlier statement - the trucks have apparently moved to be hidden away* and now use long fibres to get in to the building, but they pay the facilities company (quite a lot) every time to use them. So yes Sky could have had UKI-1912 there- if so I’m a little surprised as there are options to get circuits out of the building. I can categorically say there wasn’t a BBC truck there and hasn’t been for summits for almost 2 years.


(*The one side of the building I didn’t walk around!)

Yes I certainly didn't see any BBC feeds on 16E from Brussels throughout the time the summit was going on.

You wouldn't have, it was all on IP over fibre. Apart from those live broadcasts after 0:00 GMT - thanks to [circuit supplier redacted] - when a workaround had to be hurriedly put in place using a third party video circuit. Which was enormous 'fun' at the time.....

A charity concert is being held in Paris on Saturday evening, to raise money for the restoration of the Notre-Dame, it'll be shown on France 2 at 8pm UK time.

A number of French billionaires have already pledged €600m in total already, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets to €1bn which would be incredible considering Notre Dame had struggled to raise €150m needed to restore it.

From a staffing perspective NBC News has Craig Melvin (who anchored part of his hour before domestic news), Richard Engel, Chris Jansing, Matt Bradley (who was live on Nightly last night) all accompanied by a France 24 correspondent. The first 20 minutes of MSNBC seem to be live hits from Paris then to domestic news (latest leaks of Mueller) with other Paris reports mixed in.

Today repurposed used portions package of a package Keir Simmons did back in October 2018 with v/o by Engel

CBS This Morning had Seth Doane and Roxana Saberi doing two hits during the show, they also interviewed awkwardly the vice mayor for tourism (I think that’s the title).

I don’t record ABC so, I don’t know how they covered it.

I imagine all the networks will be in London.

Apple are also donating towards the restoration fund. I suspect the first major foreign donation?

Apologies, BBC didn't have their truck there but Sky had 1912 there.

All mute anyway! BBC have driven 1903 to Paris and Sky have 1941 there, both London trucks.

I think you mean the BBC’s landmark 1969 documentary series, it’s rather demeaning to refer to it as a ‘show’ and for it to have a ‘host’ !
