I had seen the massive UTV Live logos before on a video someone posted on YouTube of a tour of Studio 1 recorded on a mobile phone, but they've never appeared on screen. A good job they are rarely seen, a bit too in-yer-face for a news set.

It's all to do with the new later late news that they're running.... not sure when it's starting to be exact.

After all, the UTV website always gets new logos before everything else - remember in 1999 it got the logo before it appeared on screen!

I wonder if the extended late news will still be done by the duty CA or whether one of the main presenters will hang around for the late bulletin.

Could be that they'll pick one presenter who'll always do the late bulletin, Marc Mallett for example. Would be nice to have a bit of continuity with the same presenter each night but then again it would also be a shame not to see Gillian or Robin present the news again. Sarah Dobson or Lynda Fulford I couldn't really give a toss about.

Or, if they choose Marc and Sarah as the presenters of the late bulletin and pull them from continuity duty (I doubt Lynda would return if she's doing GMTV now), it might be the key to letting Gillian, Robin, Audra and the elusive Aidan Browne do in-vision again instead of letting Julian hog IVC to himself.

As we're talking about UTV, highly unlikely, mind.

Come to think of it, apart from MM, Neil Brittain and Gavin Andrews, where are all the young male journalists on Northern Irish TV? It seems almost every new young twenty-something reporter coming through is female, and invariably* blonde.

*Apart from the lovely Judith Hill.

Unfortunately Col, Lynda has returned. She has appeared a few times since starting with GMTV, most recently on Thursday night.

For some reason, the sports news wasn't shown on the web version of UTV Live tonight. Rights issue, anyone?

David Morgan is back reporting, Julian is on weather duty this week, and a nice shot at the end of tonight's UTV Live:

It does look like the desk has been moved to a corner of the studio - maybe for another part to be dressed for a relaunch? I reckon it'll come after Easter.

The other part is used at the moment for Late and Live at the moment, but the word for relaunch is when they start the new late night extended local news.

I still don't get the two different logos being used - it's just too out of place!

UTV just showed an ident adverting the new look during Loose Women and it said that the new look will start next week.

A 100% improvement on the current titles, that. Looking forward to seeing the set and graphics, hope there's a new desk - never mind that, a complete relaunch after the last time would be amazing! Wink

In the meantime, the Lunchtime bulletin is coming from the continuity studio this week.

And for the second time since uPlayer launched, there's been no voiceover when they run VT clips for the presenter to speak over - i.e. when they do "coming up" parts. And looks like Paul Clark has replaced Susie Millar as "Titanic correspondent" - was she covering it for BBC Newsline?

Looks really great, I like the music. I hope the set is more than a desk and a giant cyclorama. The new logo seems very STV to me.
