I remember years ago, local PEBs before the election usually involved the party leader sitting in a studio with their party logo superimposed on the set behind them - I think both channels did that.
And at the last election, am I right in remembering that the BBC and UTV announcements into each Party Election Broadcast were pre-recorded, I think it was John Ashe announcing into BBC NI's showings and, sadly, Audra Thomas voicing the UTV intros/outros.

No... and... I don't know.
BBC NI announcements at the top and tail of each PEB were performed live by the person on duty.

Thanks for confirming what the BBC did last time around, Denton - for some reason, I had the idea only one announcer intro'd and outro'd PEBs, if not in 2003, one year - and that John Ashe did the honours.
Still pretty certain AT did the same job for UTV last time, pre-recorded.
Come to think of it, in the past, did BBC NI and UTV block out PEBs by the main UK mainland parties during previous elections and run PEBs by the NI political parties?
More technical problems on the local bulletins within Breakfast. The 7.25am bulletin replaced by a holding caption and the soundtrack of each ident played one after the other. The 7.55am - Newsline holding cap with announcer (Michael Selby) reading a few stories before reverting to a number of trails. 8.25am back to normal, with apology from the presenter at the top of the bulletin.
Anyone happen to know what "UTV Focus" is? It appears in the listings for Tuesday 27th February at 7:30pm under the category of current affairs. I presume it's in some way related to UTV election coverage, however there's been no mention of it on screen as yet.

If it's not election related, could be Frank Mitchell looking at the studio floor with a magnifying glass.
Could this be a possible hint at what UTV's election graphics will look like? I'm presuming they will try and make it tie in with UTV Live's colour scheme etc.
I really hope UTV put a bit of effort into their election presentation, all we've seen of the BBC's is the logo and theirs already looks ten times better!
I don't think that's the logo, it's more like just a plasma image so it doesn't look too out of place compared to the rest. I'm guessing they might stick with their big "E" again like last time but then who knows. I think UTV focus could be just something that looks at peoples lives like A day in the life used to do plus an Election show would be branded as an Insight special.
BBC Newsline use the animated logo now into any election material and it looks really nice and clean but then again with any election stuff you have to be careful about logo colours etc, hence why purple is quite a popular background colour!
