On a slightly different note, UTV were today presumably 'testing' an in-programme pointer graphic during This Morning. It repeatedly appeared and disappeared saying "Coming Up...UTV Live"

Still didn't manage to get a cap though!

Just what I need to hear to pin my hopes on a bright future for the announcers... I wonder if UTV will follow the network rule for these pointers, or whether they will pop up during Emmerdale and Corrie.

That reminds me of the brief period when Ulster Television flirted with using an on-screen DOG in the summer of 1991 - the station logo was faded up in the bottom-left corner of the screen for a few minutes during certain programmes. Or the less subtle Watch to Win DOG from 2000...

What is the network rule? Are they not allowed to appear during Emmerdale and Corrie?

When ITV1 began putting "next" pointers near the end of shows, they appeared at the end of every non-news programme - however, they received complaints when they appeared during the soaps, so they decide to stop running them during all dramas, soaps included.

Hmm.In some ways Colm is right. They have to bring back the other gr8 ivc announcers and its just Julian that does it now.

I have to say myself that the new UTV live titles look really cheap and Im not a big fan of them.

Check out my site which contains clips of the gr8 times of UTV.

There's an article in today's Belfast Telegraph about Tina Campbell returning to work today after her maternity leave. It seems she will be replacing Kate Smith, anchoring only on Thursdays and Fridays so she can spend more time with her new family.

Off-topic I know, but I didn't know Tina was married to Pamela's ex-husband! Shocked

And here it is, seen during Emmerdale...

That UTV logo looks dreadful the way it has been stretched. It looks as though it has been made in 4:3 and stretched to 16:9, however the text is fine!

Not keen on the grey colour, not that I watch UTV on a regular basis.

No colon between Meets and Emma.

Another genius piece of consistent high-quality work by Merv and Trev and the others in UTV's graphics department.

Tina Campbell - so has she been promoted to the desk full time or will she still be appearing on the sofa and presenting the weather forecast the odd time? The article implies that she will still file feature reports.

I wonder if this means the end of Pamela's brief return to UTV News bulletins will come to an end - perhaps not if on Mondays-Wednesdays Paul Clark is engaged in reporting duty, Alison Fleming isn't around and it's Pamela and Frank on the sofa.

I knew Tina was married to Pamela's former husband - but only found out when an old housemate at uni told me, after I set up my old UTV site! I tend not to explicity mention it for the sake of Pamela, and to a lesser extent, Tina.
