So presenters won't be appearing in other programmes outside of UTV Live now.

Eh?!?! I mean, there's such a selection of alternative UTV productions to chose from. Or, are we referring to those who have shows on U105?

Alternative UTV productions on TV. I.E. Pamela popping up on RPM AFAIK is a no go from now on.

How can UTV Live be worried about ratings? Is it still ahead of Newsline? And surely ratings will be down over the summer as more people go on holiday/enjoy what few sunny days there are.

Yeh, UTV are still ahead - last night they had around 197,000 whilst BBC Newsline were sitting at around 148,000

...Perhaps create a new programme for the 7.30 slot for the film and music review sections, with Carolyn Stewart and Kirsten McAlpine, hosted by one of the features presenters, I think Alison Fleming would be the best choice.

Oh please tell me you where joking about Kirsten shae has to be the worst film critic ever there is never a film she likes, come on UTV get rid of her even the presenters are slagging her off!

Now that's a shame - Pamela has been a great presenter of RPM, she knows her stuff about the world of rallying and she has been the perfect foil for Plum. Does this mean as Gary Gillespie reports and presents for UTV Live that he will have to stop doing RPM commentary?

Explains why they got rid of School Around the Corner Smile

Still a ridiculous idea though.

It's just major presenters, but sports people can still work on sports programming if you see what I mean.

Oh and SATC was axed probably because it was poo.

Is there any official word on which reporters/staff have left UTV?

Here's the new logo for L8 and Live, starting on Friday 20th October:

"L8" is a wonderful (!) way of looking trendy with your brand, but the idea falls apart when you then have to explain that it's "L8" and not "late" every time you read out the email address. Who's presenting it?

If it can't be anyone from UTV Live... who does that leave? Julian?

Noticed something strange on the plasma graphics tonight, they appeared stretched in the middle - most noticeable when the UTV Live logo was displayed, or with the text on plasma images, the Futura Bold text looked more expanded at either end but looked normal in the middle.

Poor attempt at humour after Michelle Napier's report on the age discrimination law change by Paul and Kate (who's got a haircut) - they can't do humour like Mike and Lynda ever did.

Yeah Col they got two new plasmas on Monday and seem to be having the same problem I have with my widescreen monitor. When I play a widescreen DVD it appears stretched at the edges and fine in the middle!

Funny, I thought they were new plasmas, the grey edge around the screen looked thicker.

Is that the budget for the year gone then? Smile

Nearly died when I saw the title of this press release. It's not as bad as I thought though!

JULIAN’S IN A LATHER AS HE JOINS UTV LIVE

UTV presenter Julian Simmons will be in a lather this weekend as he prepares to join UTV Live presenters on the sofa from Monday 9 October at 17.30.

Julian said; “I’m passionate about UTV programmes but I suppose you could say I’m a self-confessed ‘soapaholic’ … so I’m really excited about joining UTV Live to report on the goings on in Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

“Soap fans throughout the country stop me on the street or in the supermarket to ask me what’s happening in Weatherfield or in the Woolpack! From now on, every Monday and Friday, I’ll be giving viewers an extra special sneak preview of what they can expect to see on Corrie and Emmerdale that week.

“It’s is a fantastic opportunity for me and something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time.”

Frank Mitchell and Pamela Ballantine are looking forward to welcoming their old friend on board. Frank said; “We’re looking forward to Julian joining us on the sofa twice a week as he’ll be able to give viewers the inside gossip on the Dingles and what’s happening in the Rovers Return.”

Julian Simmons on UTV Live, Mondays and Fridays from Monday 9 October at 17.30.
