OK, pay attention:
Last Wednesday the ITV Border and ITV Tyne Tees regions were merged to create ITV Tyne Tees & Border.
Before the merger there were 3 news programmes: North East Tonight (North), North East Tonight (South) and Lookaround.
After the merger, the Tyne Tees North and South subregions were merged into 1, meaning there are no longer North East Tonight North/South opt outs.
At 6pm, the bulletin begin exactly as they did prior to the merger. North East Tonight titles play in the Tyne Tees region and Lookaround titles play in the Border region. The first 15-18 minutes feature stories only from the North East in the Tyne Tees region and Cumbria and South of Scotland in the Border region.
Both of these 15-18 minute segments are presented by the same people: Pam Royle and Ian Payne. Therefore one has to be pre-recorded. They decide which programme will be pre-recorded and which will be live depending on the day's news.
With me so far?
At around 6.15pm, a 'North East Tonight'/'Lookaround' holding caption appears on screen and the programme becomes a live, pan-regional bulletin.
It remains a pan-regional programme until the weather at which point the bulletin splits again, showing North East weather in the Tyne Tees region and Cumbrian/South of Scotland weather in the Border region.
JJ posted:
Oh. So in North East Tonight, which part is live and which is not. Who are the presenters, for each sub-region?
