So having just the one programme covering the whole area is preferable to what there is now?
This last week and every day what is wrong with two FULL 30 Min. diff. programmes for both regions, 1 live 1 recorded... Even if the regions are split till 6.25 before the Weather
Bit Late but a bit of a shocker in the North East on Thursday night... No not that it's Cumbria Floods... No it's not that it's pan regional... It's the fact NET features the Lookaround News room and Graphics

I thought that when I saw it, it's messy.

The biggest problem that I can see with the service of late has been the lack of coverage of North Yorkshire. It must be galling for those suffering floods now to not really be getting any coverage from their station, while an area not covered by ex-TTTV gets wall-to-wall.

Why does or did Tyne Tees have North Yorkshire? Shouldn't
ALL
of Yorkshire be under ITV Yorkshire!

Its due to transmitter remits. In parts of N.Yorks the Pontop Pike Transmitter signal is stronger than Emley Moor.

Not quite. Bilsdale was Tyne Tees South's transmitter, which covers an area around Cleveland, Durham and almost the whole of North Yorkshire. If YTV had had this transmitter, parts of Northumberland and most of Durham would receive Yorkshire programming -- far more unacceptable than most of North Yorkshire having the choice of stations.
Anyway, the point is that a part of the TTTV area of 35 years standing is now being neglected so that ITV can save money by broadcasting a combined service to Cumbria. The licence dictates 15 minutes of NE/NY news in this area -- we are not getting it.

Bilsdale was originally a YTV transmitter, it was changed over as part of a transmitter swap which saw Yorkshire gain the Belmont transmitter in Lincolnshire from Anglia. Prior to that, the Anglia signal reached as far north as Hull while YTV could be received in south Durham, on Teesside and as far north as Wearside.

Hmmm... I think that's what YTV wanted but in reality the IBA realised that Bilsdale's coverage would mean YTV would be seen in Tyneside and parts of Northumberland so they assigned it to Tyne Tees but allowed the creation of Trident TV. Anglia were supposed to be part of this along with Yorkshire and Tyne Tees but they never joined the other two for some reason.
