I have been hearing from an ITV insider that there is meant to be titles update etc to regional news in December... Only for the big regions though...

There's been mixed messages floating around, from what I've gathered all regions will receive the update eventually, with the bigger ones (in terms of audience share) going first, starting with London in December. Is this correct?

TBH I'm quite happy with the current presentation. The titles aren't great but the astons, etc are certainly better than anything the national news now employs. It's the other form of presentation that needs improving...

I agree still wouldn't mind Border back though Wink Just needs a bit refreshing to bring aline to the main news... I heard it was the likes of London, Granada and one other to change first?

London, Granada and Central.

Have I been incredibly ignorant over the last 4 years or is the 'Tyne Tees Weather Garden' a recent creation?

Sympathies to everyone in the region, The weather and it's impact would be testing to broadcasters in the old ITV regime, yesterday's events will test the new one greatly.

It's been handled quite well, weird last night there was no sting at mid-point on Lookaround anyway... a clip finished just in time before they joined with NET.

I feel they should either go pan-regional or record most of NET as tonight the Border region is far more Important (to be honest) tonight

It's pan regional tonight and bits recorded. North East Tonight reporting on the floods in Cumbria.

I really wish they would just call it ITV North East & Cumbria, give the news programme a new generic name and have done with it, have it as one live programme a little bit like Look North instead of all this pretend split malarkey.

Oh, and the City Road studios are to be demolished. RIP.

Yeah, I seen, It had Ian live at cockermouth before titles - "Welcome to the Programme" then titles and pre-record of pam in Studio with Carlisle b/g and headlines. there was about 5 min opt out at about 6.10. Our Opt out was just full of floods in south scotland. All worked smoothly though, I pressume NET had its own opt of seperate news?... The sport was even pan-regional taking a lot of time.

To your other opt you can't have itv NE and Cumbria till us lot north in the border are sorted

Then the 6pm programme ought to be called Tyne Tees & Border News like the shorter bulletins are called.

North East Tonight should never have been dominated by a North West news issue. The whole set up is ridiculous. On Look North I would expect this. Hey ho...

I have tremendous sympathy for anyone affected by the floods but the fact remains that these reports are of no use (nor, to put it bluntly, interest) to local news viewers on the North East coast. I have my suspicions that they are using this as a trial with a view to installing permanent pan-regional bulletins in the not-too-distant future.

They should just get on with it.

On a side note, I see Kim Ingles ex TTTV is reporting now on Look North.
