Fiona and Tim were much better than Pam and Ian!

Clearly. That's why they got the gig isn't it? Wink

Mind you, I'll grant you on the Ian Payne side of things, can't abide him either. They should've paired Pam up with Jonathan Morrell.

Fiona lives in the Borders and Tim in Penrith so commuting everyday to Gateshead wouldn't be feasible.

If they really wanted their jobs they would've relocated. Shows how much they really cared despite all that nonsense they were doing to stop the merger.

What an absolute load of crap. What on earth do you know about how much they cared? Have you not stopped to think that these people might have families and partners to consider? It's not always practical to move house at the drop of a hat, especially in a recession.

And as for the 'nonsense' to stop the merger, perhaps, just perhaps they weren't only concerned about their own jobs, but those of their many colleagues. Maybe also they actually cared about the provision of public service broadcasting to the borders, and felt passionately that the interests of viewers weren't best served by providing viewers of Cumbria and the Scottish borders with a news programme also watched as far away as York and Harrogate.

Please think in future before making such crass, ignorant statements.

There are ways and means of getting your point across. There's no need to flame me down in such a condescending, pompous fashion. Rolling Eyes

Do you agree though that your comments were wrong and out of order? Border Television Staff and viewers believed passionately about the campaign to save Border Television's Lookaround albeit it wasn't completely successful - it proved people did care about Border within the whole of the region and was the most vocal out compared to the rest of the itv network.

I may have been wrong, but out of order is being hysterical. I apologise though in the interests of keeping the peace and to avoid a bitch fest if I have unsettled the horses, so to speak.

I'd like to think for the most part I'm fairly tolerant and good humoured on here, and generally I'm not in the habit of having a go at people, but your comments genuinely angered me.

Anyway, let's move on.

Maybe they should have Tim as a back up for hosting Lookaround/North East tonight... they have Pip and Kenny Toal but Greg Eastdale has also presented - all Tyne Tees...

Kenny Toal and Pip are good... Tim is better than Greg though as a 'second-backup'...

I never thought I would actually say this but I would actually like to see Helen Pearson present Lookaround again sometime. It will be interesting to see in the summer what happens as Border always used to have a mix of presenters plus OBs but I presume we wont see any of this anymore.
