it's filmed as live, so not misleading as such.[/quote:0271395523]
Greg was probably live on both - as they may of linked up at the same time. I wish they could stop now with this Hello Im Pam Royle....Hell im Ian Payne - yes, we know your names now!!
Just a further point on Pam and Ian at the start introducing themselves - as i say I don't mind them doing that but i feel they are kind of running out in what to say...?!
Are you complaining? The majority of the bulletins are filled with Tyne Tees News - Newcastle this, Sunderland that. The worse bulletins are the GMTV ones - hardly any mention of Cumbria and no travel/traffic updates anymore. Its the people in the Border region that are losing out, not Tyne Tees!!
An extremely late reply, but I'm definetly not complaining! It's just strange seeing a 'North East Tonight' when they mention Carlisle, Dumfries in the pan-regional bit.

Dawn Thewlis (ex Tyne Tees) appeared on Look North last night to do the sport, presumably as Jeff Brown has been named as Carols replacement while she's on maternity.
Good to see her back onscreen then! An excellent presenter. I know she took voluntary redundancy though from Tyne Tees. I haven't heard about Jeff Brown being named, has Carol Moody left then?
With regards to the openings of North East Tonight/Lookaround it just looks and sounds gimmicky, it would look a lot better if they just went straight into the main titles like they do on all other bulletins, for some consistency? But hey Tyne Tees' presentation dept don't have a clue.
Does anybody know if all of Tyne Tees' correspondents are freelancers except Rachel Bullock ,Gregg Easteal and Kenny Toal as there is a rather large bunch compared to other regions and only appear once or twice per week at the most.
Tonight was another one of those nights where I was only half watching Lookaround... correct me but it seemed that Lookaround was Border only till around 6-20... then there was no sting because it had the Carlisle background - it went onto a border story then ... Pip appeared with Pam and Ian and the screen went generic... is that right - can anyone help me here?? - i never saw anything else after that
I think the sub-regional bits lasted around 20 minutes, with no pan-regional section, due to an earling finish, they ditched the sting and wen't straight to the weather and pan-regional generic ending.
Meanwhile, tonight, I caught the last 10 minutes of North East Tonight, 8 of which was adverts/election stuff! Anyway, no weather forecast for the Tyne Tees region, instead the TTTV clock, then the full North East Tonight promo (which is usually played at around 5.45pm-ish) was played, showing how it is infact pre-recorded, with Pam and Ian ad-libbing pulling strange faces at each other, then the screen went black once it had played out and it went mid-way into the Border forecast instead, no apology at the end though.
I would have thought if any thing like this happens, they'd just but a large ITV logo onscreen, like they do on the two plasmas in the pan-regional part or the weather sting animating.

As regard to the large itv logo on the plasma - what about Newcastle on one and Carlisle on the other? I like the use of the back projector screen, changing image for each story. At least they try as it cant be easy to cater for the massive super region. The main editions are good, its just the bulletins which are lacking in regionwide content.
On a different topic - I may be wrong but i think I may have found the way to tell if Lookaround or NET is live. I have realised for Lookaround Pam and Ian use pink papers most of the time. for NET it's mostly white. I have noticed when Lookaround is recorded they just have pink papers on the desk but when it's live they have white papers beside the pink papers they are using (showing that they have just finished prerecording NET) I have watched the same the opposite way round
Again im hoping im making sense - any thoughts to this theory?

I agree with you, although I havent scrutised it to the same level as you.
I haven't looked out whats on the desk every night lol its just I became curious when I flicked to NET on my sky a few times... And again when they had the Iraq thing when they went 'live' to Greg for both programs - Lookaround just had pink papers where NET had white papers with pink beside - Indicating more than NET was acctually LIVE that night
