Well if he was off they probably would have Stuart Flinders as the next choice, I am taking it that he is ill or something, considering they're using Annabel Tiffin more. Though it wouldn't suprise me, as his voice isn't as smooth as it used to be.
Talking about BBC NW, I like that trailer for Ted Robbins in the chip shop, that is quite funny, featuring 'Caravan Dave' and Kenny Sr from Phoenix Nights.

But where is Gordon? He must be ill or taking another week off, lol.

I think it's less likely to be a holiday seeing as he was in for Monday's programmes (it's unusual to work a Monday then go on holiday). If he's ill and Stuart Flinders is on holiday, annabel is presumably now the next in line to be called in.
Pure speculation, I hasten to add, before I get shouted at.

Yeah, Tina is doing weekends with a couple of days on Breakfast a week, which she shares with Nigel Jay.
If they were to go into co-presenting, I wouldn't mind Gordon or Stuart Flinders with either Annabel or Tina. Out of interest how many regions still have only one presenter for the main programme? I've counted three from memory - London News, Wales Today and, of course, North West Tonight. Are there any others?

I personally think North west Tonight is excellent. The seem to go in depth now on various stories with special guests which is very good. As for presenters, I think Tina Bangs would be a good choice. By the way, is she leaving the Breakfast bulletins soon or is she currently doing both weekends and breakfast?
Annabell was OK yesterday but as said before, she didn't seem very welcoming and as for Gordon being off, he's had a lot of time off so far this year. He must get ill easily!

Crikey, it was like a completely different programme tonight.
Annabelle was much warmer. The whole programme was done away from the desk in the 2nd area with the large screen - the first half standing up (with a few nice camera angles at points) and the second half on chairs, making it a 'soft set'.
I know they've done bits from the 2nd area before, but Gordon usually scuttles back to the desk at some point.
Interesting. Wonder if they'll keep this up.

I liked the view they used when Annabel was standing up so you could see a bit of Oxford Rd, a bit of the cream and a bit of the red, very nice indeed.
Plus that couple must have been rushed, the one where the dog saved the woman, they were live from their home on Granada Reports at 6.15pm and they were in the North West Tonight studio by 6.45pm!

Aaaahhhh... but you should always regard studio-based interviews with suspicion. It could well have been pre-recorded.

Yes true, but the way they linked to it, it looked live to me and it didn't look recorded and it was mentioned that it was recorded, it linked nicely from one story to the other.
I think they made good use of the studio tonight, no desk, shock horror!
Considering I come from Warrington I never knew Culcheth has such a bad scally problem! (For those who watched tonight's NWT)
