Me? nah. Not me
Good to have you as a member here at last! It was your Tyne Tees Logo page (or Channel 3 North East Hate Page as it was then) which first alerted me to the existence of like-minded TV Pres anoraks on the internet.
...except of course, as you say, it's not you.

oh what nice timing. I've just spent the last week wallowing in North East Tonight based joy.
On that note - and to shamelessly move discussion towards the TTLP - are there any plans to do the videos in higher quality? I've developed a great love for the proper North East Tonight theme (and squealed with delight when I saw those fabulously naff Network North titles again, my old house in Warkworth used to have one ariel pointed at Billsdale and the other at Pontop Pike so I could enjoy both sets of music).
not that I'm a looser of course...

I was always amused by the (quite accurate) graphical representation of the Bilsdale transmitter on the Network North titles - something I'm sure which was completely lost on anyone not a transmitter enthusiast or a resident of the village of Bilsdale.
Interesting fact: the Network North set was an exact replica of Central News South's at the time - and we thought cloned regional news sets were a recent phenomenon. (Well, interesting to me anyway.)

It was an interesting old programme Network North -- on the one hand it was intended to be a joint-venture between TTTV and YTV, with YTV being the senior partner and providing significant editorial staff. On the other hand TTTV seem to have been given a fairly free reign with the graphics and music, and as you say the titles were a classic dodgy early-90s era TTTV 3D effort, in a similar vein to the equally glorious Lookaround graphics from a couple of years previously, and the music was the usual John-Cook-on-his-Casio delight.

they are very similar aren't they. I did always like the desk in Teesside though - worked nicely when Mike went down when Newcaslte was being done-up/broken.

That image of the CNS set was after it had been tarted up a bit. Before they added the bizarre padding to the desk, and changed the lighting, it was even more similar. Even the logos for the programme were similar, with the tall, thin writing featuring on both.
IIRC Network North launched not long after CNS won the RTS Award for best regional news programme. I guess they thought if they copied a few of their ideas they might be on to a winner...
...well they might have been if they got Central to produce it.
