Nice to see decent camera peds (even if they aren't brand new) - not some cheap and nasty pro-peds or <shudder> tripods... I don't think Meridian have decent peds these days - probably nowhere near enough space for them...

According to the "Moving Day" programme shown on just after the move on Tyne Tees, all the equipment is brand new, the only bit that's moved is the library and the staff. I'm not convinced this is entirely true though.

If you were buying brand new camera peds - they wouldn't look like that. (The new models - i.e. those made in the last 10 years or so - look like the ones News 24 have and that feature in the opening wide shot.)

Twas a breaking news thing to mention activity in York of some kind at the start of the programe live from the newsroom. Nice to see it. Anyone got any idea on the actual news? Can't find it on the BBC and TTTv wasn't too clear.

Evacuation of York train station. Helen Ford was in the TTTV newsroom with the breaking news. The newscasters brought you an update just before heading over to London at 6.30.

The duo of Kim Inglis and Kenny Toal are better presenters, for me, rather than Jonathan Morrell and Alex Watson.

Nice set but shame about this 14:9 crap vision.

AFAIK not all the equipment is brand new. Some stuff was brought over from City Road.

Incidentally, I understand TTTV are *still* using the old chalkboard VT cue boards, brought over from the old building, for as-live trails, weather recordings etc, instead of the electronic ones. Seems old habits die hard at Tyne Tees even now. Are there any other TV companies in the country still using this antiquated approach?

Is it just me, or does anyone else dislike the way North East Tonight hands over to London at 18.30? It feels like the programme doesn't end properly without fading out to a wide-shot with music and presenter chat like they used to. But I suppose seen as they do come back at 10 to 7 thats why they probably don't do it anymore.

York station was evacuated just after 4pm (when I heard about it on local radio). Were they really flagging it as breaking news two hours later?

I don't care, the end of the Weather is the moment I switch channels. I'm not a fan of "ITV" News. Back in the ITN-Branded days news programmes on ITV were so much better.

I take it that TTTV (I'm wanting to type City Road there, I was down at the Baltic the other day and shed a tear for City Road. Well I didn't, I just looked at it when waiting for one of those yellow buses that never arrive). I take it they have 16:9 capability they just use 14:9 due to London pressure?

I saw a "Tyne Tees News" can at Beamish the other day too. It looked pathetic with just 4 squares as branding.

Does anyone remember when Calendar and Network North use to have dual broadcasts for certain events in the summer? Didn't Jake Lynch have the staring role in these?

Why didn't they just move the whole Northern News operation to Leeds? The newsroom is plenty big enough, and with modern communications, do you really need to have all those offices everywhere? (prepares for crushing condemnation)
