Seeing as Tyne Tees South appeared on Sky for the first time yesterday, I thought I'd give the late bulletin a go last night. Can anyone explain why of the four stories they ran, one was from Newcastle, and one from Sunderland - both outside the Bilsdale area? Seems rather pointless.

well they appear to have split the main editions of NET North and South again and moved to a two presenter format whilst Mike recovers from illness with Jonnathan Morrell and Alex Watson doing the North edition.

They always used to justify it in the old Network North days by saying that because of Bilsdales reach parts of Tyneside they need to have a mix of stories from across the region but that editorialy they concentrate on the South.

It can't be live. I've seen that bird pass by the Baltic Flour Mill building more times than I car to remember Rolling Eyes Laughing

it seems to be live for North East Tonight because the Tall Ships were there and the ferris wheel was spinning but not for the late one.

Half of Sunderland gets Bilsdale hence the Sunderland story

I have to say I think that the new style North East Tonight with Jonathan Morrell and Alex Watson is a nice change from Mike. Don't get me wrong I want Mike to get better and back to work soon but surely Jonathan and Alex have a shot at full-time when he retires.

He must be tired after doing all week on North East Tonight and now on the ITV News Channel. Are Jonathan and Alex back on Monday? Any news on Mike?

According to the Evening Chronicle, Mike is back home and doing well after an operation on a blood clot in his leg. Bob Johnson has been round to see him to cheer him up.

Well I hope he's back at Tyne Tees soon. As much as I like the programme as it's been for the last few days it still feels like something's missing.
