The Billingham studio will stay and is being updated with the digital newsgathering equiptment that the new Gateshead newsroom has got.

But I thought the presentation of the sub-regional opt was moving to Gatehead, with two studios (and generic regional sets) being installed in the new buiding?

Or was this just a rumour/has the plan changed?

I doubt it. The Watermark buildings aren't that large, and they have to fit a news studio, another for non-news regional programmes, and a smaller one for Signpost BSL. Billingham still produces the late news for the whole region.

Is the place not called Bilsdale?

Sorry to be a pedant.

Bilsdale's a transmitter, isn't it? Billingham is where TTTV has a newsroom.

Don't supposed anyone caught the package from north east tonight that jonathan morrell and pam royle teased in the lunchtime bulletin.
just tried to watch it on the tyne tees website but they don't publish the whole programme to the site,, just the first 20 mins!! Sad
I was looking forward to seeing that bit of nostalgia and a trip down memory lane!
That clip reminded me of the time back in 1992, when Pam and Paul Frost worked over from the Northern Life studio to the brand new Tyne Tees Today studios for some reason.

Its the generic ITV studio... but a proper plasma at the rear, by the looks of things...

It's a projection screen, not a plasma.

Is that a genuine webcam view or something like Calendar or Central News East? Hope its the real view as Newcastle has a great skyline down the River Tyne.

This article says the camera is on the roof of the building:

Absolutely correct. Bilsdale's a teeny little village up on the North York Moors, and would be a decidedly odd location for a TV studio. Rather confusingly though the titles of Network North used to carry the words 'Live From Bilsdale'.

And just to add to the confusion, the Teesside studio is often referred to within the company as 'Belasis' - a reference to its location on The Belasis Hall Technology Park in Billingham.

Here is the promo for Tyne Tees' "The Big Move Programme"...

"The Big Move" was quite interesting and a fitting tribute to City Road. it was funny seeing Pam Royle making a right mess of using the digital editing equiptment. Just as well she never has to report anymore.

Is she the one who said "its taking me some time" in an annoying way?

Do we know if there will be dual presenting going on from tonight? If not it will be interesting to see a single headed main programme from an ITV regional news set. Interesting to see a sort of faint squares animation going on on top of the backdrop.

No dual presenting will be going on. Mike Neville will be on his own. He'll be joined by the Sports Presenter and Bob Johnson in the second half of the programme

Just caught a quick glimpse of Mike in the new set in the 5.30pm trail. As many predicted, he looked a bit uncomfortable perched on the sofa. More than just about anyone else he just suits a desk in front of him.
