First time I've seen the Look North regional 10:25 slot for ages. The Newcastle skyline looks absolutely beautiful as a background I must say. Is it a projected screen or a real window?
And very impressed with the male newsreader who does the late bulletin on Look North, is he new?
No! Getting on a bit now, the bulletin was totally different from normal tonight.
Had the horrific Bradford shooting not happened he would have probably dressed up for Children In Need
And they made Paul Hudson shut his mouth for once!
As he's talking about the North East and Cumbria, you should read the title thread before replying.
The male newsreader is Gerry Jackson, he's beent there for quite a while just not in front of the camera, and it was a different style bulletin - they played the closing sting (attempted at least) and yes - the Newcastle skyline looks gorgeous. It's a projected image they recorded.

I was under the impression the image was live - the webcam link on the website is the same position as that image, and during daylight hours if the local weather is bad, it seems to show on the screen.

It looks very similar to the one Tyne Tees use on the north programme.
Anyone see the opening day stuff at all?
Had some good pictures of the newsroom and studios from angles we don't usually see.

I wish they would use a live one on Westcountry Live. BBC Spotlight do, so it's not impossible. Instead ITV use a recorded Summer/Winter looped video
mikeneville:
"Does anyone know when Border switched from showing Granada Soccer Night to showing the Tyne Tees version?"
I'd have a stab at guessing it was at the start of the last season (2004-2005), as that's when all of the regional soccer programmes were rebranded as Soccer Night and put in the same slot with identical titles etc. Not sure why Border starting taking the TTTV version, perhaps footie fans in the region are more interesting in hearing about Newcastle, Boro, Sunderland etc. than the teams in the Granada region - given that part of the Border region is in North Northumberland too they are probably regarded as the big local teams.
But, come to think it, have Roger, Simon or Ian ever run a story on Carlisle United for the Border viewers?

I remember they did once when Carlisle were promoted to the Football League last season.
Wow, to dragging up the old thread for the North East. I didnt realise it was so quiet compared to some of the other regions. Anyways, a bit of a question for those still up in the North East, and something I cant get an answer to from online video due to them only ever streaming the first 20 minutes and not the wide shot at the end.
What did Tyne Tees do to the spotlight on the floor for the relaunch. For reason's known only to themselves, TTTV had the new 'ITV Tyne Tees' logo projected onto their floor when they moved to the generic studio at The Watermark, rather than just the programme name as happened with all the other regions. Has this now been updated to just the programme name too (or did that perhaps happen several months back before the relaunch, as I've not been able to keep track, being out of the region), or a new ITV logo?
Apologies if someone has already mentioned this somewhere mind, and I just missed it.
