South: Its exactly the same graphics, theme tune and everything.
Only change is that the presenters started the show standing up and they are plugging this car competition every 2 minutes and by 4 minutes past they had already told us whats coming up twice.
Actually the new desk looks a little higher than before, or maybe the seats are lower. A mistake in the headlines - it said Manchester instead of Gateshead on the link up
North: the same as south
Both areas are running the same stories so viewers in Newcastle are subjected to stories from Whitby and Eston
The sports news is exacty the same in both areas as both are doing a live link up at the same time
After the sports there was a filler story - North: Iguana banned fro metro centre (and his owner live in studio) and South: kid learning to go-kart
After the weather the show rounded off with letters and emails and the trailer plays again
Overall: I thought that the North team lacked chemistry and the south team were fine - Ian Payne slotted in well as a news presenter.
Jonathan Morrell has worked well with Kim Inglis over the past few months and i would have kept them together and put Ian and the new girl on the other area. Pam Royle and Andy kluz share Late/weekend duties and fill in for any abscences.
The first South edition didn't go off too badly I though - because I am more used to seeing Ian as a sports presenter it will take a while for me to get used to seeing him reporting and presenting on the general news agenda.
You could sense that he was missing out on the sports awards, weird though that both Dawn and Simon were both there. Their name Aston however had their names the wrong way round - Simon's name was printed on the left when he was standing on the right, and Dawn's name was on the right of the Aston while she stood on the left.
Also nice touch to have Gordon Brown's name supered over a shot of Tony Blair...
Kim Inglis is better than the ex-Central TV presenter. Why they bring people into a station when they have good presenters of their own I can't understand.
