The last time I saw Paul Frost, a year or two ago (on BBC Look North of all things - can't remember why) he didn't have a beard anymore. just a 'tash. Most strange looking.
(Also I still have on tape Pam presenting the last-ever Tyne Tees News at 10.30 before the switch to Ch3NE. Sad, but it was the end of a era.. well for a while.)
Saw the advert for the new south edition after NET tonight, despite the fact we ended up with the 2 lesser presenters it all looked very slick, although i cant imagine there will be many changes from what it is like now
Yeah, that was what I was thinking. Just two presenters and a split north and south. Any graphics, studio changes I guess probably not...
In one way its good, but another its not.
I suppose the only change they could really do is change the opening titles to have different locations in them. The North titles with landmarks/places just to that area, and the same for the southern coverage.
i suspect that they'll change the title sequence and maybe the tone of the show will alter a bit. Both versions are getting their own satelite trucks so I suppose they'll make more effort with reporters LIVE in locations. I think there maybe certain subtle changes in the show. After the retirement of Mike, I think they'll want to make to programme appeal maybe to a younger audience. (Especially in the North more urban part of the region -hence the younger "hipper" presentation team). Perhaps the one limiting factor of the "Mike Neville Show" was that it had a comfy but dated Regional News Magazine image. Watch out for more London Tonight style celeb stuff - it crept in a bit over the last few weeks with interviews with the likes of Will Young.
