He worked for Century Radio for a while, then a few BBC local radio stations. I rather liked him doing his phone-in's. You got a bit more of that Frostie humour!
Actually, thinking on. This would be something Mike Neville would be good at now he's given up daily news. A weekly radio show, get Bob Johnson in on the act and I think it would be quite a good little programme.
More a Radio Newcastle format I would say rather than commerical radio.
At noon today i watched North East News. Helen Ford was presenting and the camera was on the left of the studio for the time i saw. Was the background screen not working?
Friday's Evening Chronicle had a photo and a report about the "new look" programmes.
There was a photo of the North presenters. There will be billboard adverts across the region advertising North East Tonight starting next week.
The Tyneside edition of North East Tonight will be presented by former Sky News and ITV News Channel newsreader Johnathan Morell.
Johnathan will be joined by co-presenter Phillippa Tomson who is originally from York, but has been working up until last month at the Birmingham-based, ITV Central News."
The Chronicle report goes on to say Pam Royle and Ian Payne are doing the new North East News for the Teesside area.
I have to say, and it might be a little unpopular - but I think Kim Inglis is far better as the main North presenter. With Johnathan she seems to be able to relax and have a decent bit of banter.
And Andy Kluz would be a better pairing for Pam on the south.. looks like Tyne Tees are going for the younger look.
