Well I hope Hymagumba will be nice to me, cos a few years ago I sent him some large photos of Matt Maude.
Anyway, I take it there was no on screen chat about it being ten years since NET started, and it is a shame really, this should have been a week to bring Mike Neville in to say a proper goodbye. Ho-hum.

I'm not nice to anyone, just "less nasty"
More importantly however, even with the demise of regionality, I'm surprised they didn't rename the show "Tyne Tees Tonight". The whole concept of NET was Mike Neville and C3NE, with both these concepts now gone from the show, it seems odd to retain the title.
mind with the north south split, i spose it's Tyne Tonight and Tees Tonight. chortle
*slaps thigh*
and with those two rivers being used for news, it leaves the wear to drown a certain member in....

Very Neil Jones of you sir.
Although it didn't have "Tyne Tees" on-screen it was often spoken of as Tyne Tees Tonight - that show with Ingrid thingy-ma-bob of Metro FM and later the lovely Kathy Secar. So I suppose they've been there and done that.
I always liked the Tyne Tees News/ Tyne Tees Today names. I notice after nearly 14 years off-air "Northern Eye" has returned as the documentary series for Tyne Tees. Now that was the sister show to Northern Life. So maybe.. maybe Northern Life is the best name they ever had. Certainly the last theme tune was fantastic.

Agreed about Northern Life, although I'm not sure it would work bringing the name back after all this time, especially as North East Tonight is still very strong. It's such a pity they can't persuade Frosty back to TV though, there was always a great chemistry between Paul and Pam and that period was the best on TT for me.
I also thought Northern Eye was a curious thing to bring back after 13 years off-air. It's one of only two programmes now that survive from when TT was an independent company, the other being The Dales Diary. Northern Eye is a totally different format to the original, however, and it's almost as if the naming of the programme is a coincidence, and the producers may not have even had the original series in mind.

Paul Frost probably does not want to work there, because it just wouldn't be the same, I mean, the old atmosphere has disappeared with City Road anyway what does he do now?
