North East Tonight and BBC Look North (NE&C) thread

Yeh the music puts me off, the actual titles are good. I was just confused as to why they keep changing the images. Which sports presenter if you can remeber his name?

They keep changing the title images to keep them fresh and to provide a range of places across the North East and Cumbria. It would be very easy for Look North to stay within Newcastle so it's a good chance to advertise that they aren't just providing news from a city centre.

The sports presenter is Mark Tulip. He's just so so boring. Jeff Brown's by far the fabber.

are LN still using the Leeds closing music?

Every time I watch Look North, I'm always astounded at just how dreary it's possible to make a regional news programme.

Considering that back in the days of Mike Neville presenting it, it was considered by many to be 'must-see' TV in the North East, it's sad just how lifeless and dull the programme is.

Why they still have the charisma-less Carol Malia presenting is a complete mystery to me. Even when introducing the lighter stories she still has the air of a sleepy mourner.

Whilst I don't think they should turn it into a Leeds-style corny cheeseathon, a bit of pace and personality certainly wouldn't go amiss.

ITV Tyne Tees, didnt look to be split this lunchtime. Jonathon Morrel with backdrop of Cathederal. Presenters at airport live reports, with another report they had a guest in the stuido. We havent had this for a while!!

I'll miss the mix of different presenters when September comes, but it is nice to see Pam down in the south again after her absence from our screens for the past few months.

I see they're doing the sport on weekend. With a sports presenter..

North East Tonight usually have sports presenters on duty only during the football season on Saturdays and Sundays on the late bulletin - it seems during the summer with less weekend sporting events to report on, so the news presenter will also read out sports news.

I wonder if the sports team will be getting any new reporters, they never replaced Roger Tames (Sports Editor) after he left and Ian Payne is now leaving the team to present the Southern Edition of NET. Will it mean new faces or does ITV cost cutting in the regions mean than Dawn Thewlis and Andy Kerr will have to do everything. (sorry forgot Simon O'Rouke)
