They must be clutching at straws for news items to resort to reporting about Celeb Big Brother on North East Tonight..

North East Tonight isn't the only Region, it was the 2nd or 3rd main story on Granada Reports sometime last week, as Danielle is from Merseyside, so it HAD to get a mention.

the problem with Cumbria is that the North of the County (and the area where most folk live) has next to no identification with Manchester at all and tend to look across to Newcastle if anywhere at all. The south look to Manchester, that's why the service is split.

That was maybe true a few years back, but not now. most things in Cumbria are now North West based, ie, Ambulance service, Health Service, proposed regional government, even the police and fire services will soon be merged with Lancashire, the M6 runs through the North West which links us with places like Preston and Manchester,
I cant think of any connections with the North East apart from Look North,
I personally cannot identify with anything on that programme as to me Newcastle is on the other side of the country.

Likewise, I have little or no interest on what's going on in Cumbria, hence why I don't watch Look North.

If I lived over in the North East I doubt that I would wanna see stories about the North West either.
Lets just hope Tyne Tees dont extend into Cumbria! The way things are going I can see the Border region being split between STV and either Tyne Tees or Granada. I would much prefer the latter of the two.

As has been mentioned in the Border thread though, I doubt ITV would hand over their only presence in a country to basically a 'rival' media group, SMG.
