Yes, he would be good to find.. I don't think "ITV Tyne Tees" will be very helpful, they don't seem to be much use these days.

Things arent running to smoothly this evening - and Julia is coping well so far.
Autocue broke - reports not working etc.

I hope this is improved soon - or the good folk of Berwick, who are about to be transferred from Border to Tyne Tees, will wonder what the hell they have let themselves in for!!! Laughing

Ahem. This is Tyne Tees we're talking about!! Perfect doesn't feature in their vocabulary Laughing That's the station's charm, always has been.

Mind you Border are little better in that regard Wink

There are many times the show has gone wrong, remember the 1999 relaunch when the astons failed to work correctly? Or the time in 1996 when the North edition of Tyne Tees News had to be abandoned half way through because none of the VT machines were working?

The sight of a VT clock (there is a clip on You Tube of one such moment) they used to pop up quite often.

And I think every clip on You Tube of TTTV news has a fluffed line. It is what makes Tyne Tees a bit more, well friendly and real.. well its why I liked the station. They could laugh at themselves. (As the You Tube clip of City Road flood shows, Stuart McNeil laughs it off.)

... or the Northern Life ep in 1989 where Paul Frost was reduced to putting out one of his infamous monologues at 5 past 6 because none of the tapes were cued correctly? Or the 1991 late news one Thursday which was abandoned without a reason being given by Maria Coyle after the first story failed and she bungled through a couple of other short pieces before just saying "Goodnight" and relying on Bill Steel to pick up the bits (that bulletin ended up going out at 11.20 instead of 10.35). Or the ridiculous spectacle that was an extended Northern Life in 1989 with horse races in the show where none of the graphics came up properly and that McCririck idiot, who had been brought in for the programme, spent most of the show taking the p*ss out of TTTV? Or the 1995 Christmas Eve morning bulletin that didn't go out due to the newsreader not getting in to the building due to snow and Kathy Secker putting in a star performance in continuity, filling up the full five minutes, before Bob Johnson popped up in the newsreader's chair to present the weather?

Tyne Tees always has been pure class. Totally unprofessional, and that's why we love it!

I think that sums it up perfectly! Tyne Tees, and the people did become like part of the furniture.

Well I know Simon has the aston failure, but I think its also on Tyne Tees Logo page too.

The VT Clock one is on the start of this: And then click on Simons name and his other TTTV Stuff will feature.

They were still using those old mechanical VT clocks as late as last year, a full 20 years after most other stations threw them on the skip Laughing I think even now they use them occasionally for internal stuff.

In fairness to Tyne Tees the above cock-up is one of YTV's making; Leeds were responsible for cueing the weather bulletins which were recorded as-live around half an hour before broadcast. If it'd been done from Newcastle it would have been possible to sort that one out a lot more smoothly as the continuity gallery at Newcastle was responsible for switching between the studios for stuff to go down the pipe to Leeds, and the on-duty anno could easily have switched to IVC and covered up the problem (as the announcer had direct control, and indeed you could see this in action -- Bill would switch to news from the ident, whereas Kathy would fade the ident out beforehand).

It is quite funny that out of all the editions of Tyne Tees Today, they messed up the ending of one that had a special closing!

Exclamation When I said perfect earlier - I was meaning to the past couple of weeks. In the past - I've lost count at how many problems their have been.
