I can't seem to get used to her. She's, well I can't work it out. She's not very TTTV is she?

A bit too formal maybe, Kim and Pam are a bit more regional, a bit more homely. She's very posh and proper this new presenter.

Well as a new member my thoughts:

Pam Royle surely is the most senior presenter, so how anyone in the Tyne Tees South region thinks they have got the 'junior team' is beyond me.

Philippa Tomson seems to be trying hard to fit in and demonstrate some personality. I wish she would use her hairstraighteners a bit more though - she looks stunning on the billboard ads but her wavy hair on screen doesn't look as good lol.

Kim Inglis is a very average presenter. Quite frankly if they were to have given it to an existing female Tyne Tees presenter, then Rachel Bullock would have been my choice.

The big flaw in the north programme as far as I am concerned is Jonathan Morrell. The guy just comes across as dull - even during the lighter features when he is trying to show some personality.

Not keen on the new opening sequence - programme trailer straight into ' hello and introduction ' with main headline then opening titles. Also seem to have been a few sound problems on the north programme this week.

Still a bit unsure on some of the content too - why was the report on drugs raids on Teesside shown on the north programme???

A lot different from the Mike Neville styley programme but that is no bad thing - at least the presentation looks a lot more modern than the 1970's presentation of Mike.

She does have a bit of banter with Jonathan though, I like her, she's very concise, has a great newsreader type speaking voice and she's also easy on the eye I find, however I don't know why they've made a song and dance about a relaunch when all they've done is bring in a new presenter for the north version.

While I like Ian Payne, am I the only person who thought it would have been obvious to choose Andy Kluz as the male anchor for the South edition?

Even though I have only been watching a patchy signal from Bilsdale for two years, I have built up an association with Andy Kluz as the local news presenter - he and Pam would have made a great presenting pair too.

Andy Kluz - oh god no - he is like a (slightly) younger version of Mike Neville!! Sad

I think that Ian could go on to be quite a good all round presenter - have liked him doing the pan regional late bulletins this week.

Incidentally I quite like Carol Malia and Look North (NE & C)!!!

The programme is different in tone from NET - less commercial in the sense of ' send your text views and enter this competition so that ITV plc can make some cash out of you kind of way.

I think she can be quite warm - but the sofa banter at the end always seems to be connected to the weather forecast - she seems to struggle a bit with ad-libbing.

But that new woman Sharuna Sargar - GET RID!! She can't get the right camera, or read the autocue or anything - get back Riz Lateef !!

On Look North I prefer Wendy Gibson, really don't know why she isn't included on the BBC website of Look North's presenters, when she's been there years.

I don't know, Kim has the 'personal' touch, more so than most. She comes over as relaxed and makes the whole thing look very easy.

She was given the job of presenting the Diana death North East coverage until Mike Neville was dragged in. She did a great job of presenting it.

I suppose for Wendy, best thing to do is email the Pink Palace and ask why she's not on..

On the note of the new girls' hairdo, it seemed to take up most of the screen on Tuesday.

Speaking of the new presenter, I have to remember the last time they brought in a strange presenter from another region ... Jake Lynch ... and what a bloody disaster he was!!

The South have definitely got the better end of the deal IMO, I'm not sure I like the Central presenter (far too anonymous, just like the rest of the current Central crowd really) and while Jonathan is very good, he'll be off in six months to host Sky again and TTTV will be left with an imported anonymous career-girl (who herself will probably bugger off to News 24 or ITN after a year, she's not going to want to stay at a backwater station for long and she has no real ties with the region) and a never-ending stream of junior reporters doing presentation roles.

People seem to forget the mess TT News got itself into before Mike came along, a split service, continuous succession of presenter changes and very poor viewing figures, courtesy of YTV's meddling. This new approach smacks of the same thing all over again.

I have to agree though that Andy Kluz should be part of the new lot, he's one of the best newsreaders TT have had in the last 15 years and it seems ridiculous to sideline him and bring in Ian Payne when TT have a dearth of decent sports presenters to begin with these days. Still, I'm sure they know what they're doing.

And what exactly happened to veteran Dawn Thewlis anyway? Not much of this rejig makes much sense if you ask me.

I don't think that you have to be Albert Einstein to see what Tyne Tees are trying to do with the new presenter teams.

They are trying to bring NET more upto date with a younger edge balanced with a touch of experience. As I see it, Pam is the main anchor for the South with Ian moving in to give more appeal to a younger crowd. In the North Jonathan is the lead with Phillipa bringing a younger more informal approach.

I think to be fair, Philippa is doing a decent job but is suffering from the conservatism of the north east which dislikes any change and would much prefer to have Mike Neville on the tv because it's all they have known since about 1960. Additionally, Phillipa comes from York so she does have a connection with the region, albeit the southern half. I do wonder however whether her ambitions will ultimately lead to a national role after a period of time, particularly given her previous experience at the news channel.

Over about the past fifteen years, Mike Neville excepted, I cannot recall Tyne Tees bringing in a new presenter straight into a major presenting role. That has left the likes of Andrew Friend and co to work their way up their ladder from reporting into presenting - not always successfully.

One of the strengths of Tyne Tees from a business perspective is that they have a good number of reporters who are able to turn their hand to presenting

Kenny Toal
Alex Watson
Kim Inglis
Rachel Bullock
Helen Ford
Mark Warr
Andy Kluz

This is not always the case when you see some of the other itv / BBC regions.

Finally, I have to say that I think that it's great that Pam has regained her overall crown as Queen of Tyne Tees by leading the senior presenters. I know that since Neville's sudden departure she has come back into regular use, but in truth I think she was treated pretty shabbily when Mike Neville returned to Tyne Tees.

For her to go from main presenter on Tyne Tees Today to end up doing short bulletin presentation was criminal and I hope that TT will now show her more respect for her years of loyalty to them.

I've always thought very highly of Wendy Gibson as well. She seems personable and yet has a very professional and authoritative air. I don' t think she'd look out of place on a national bulletin. I'd much rather see her on the main programme than the charisma-less Carol Malia.
