It would be really sad to see the 'Lookaround' brand quietly gone by Monday after 52 years!
If it does become itvNEWS Border & itvNEWS Tyne Tees it would look messy with the presenter at lunch/weekend going 'Welcome to the ITV News from Tyne Tees and Border. They could do what they do (or did on Central) and Pre-rec 2 intro's with presenter saying "Good Afternoon, welcome to the lunchtime ITV News from Border" (or Tyne Tees) then titles and live pan-reg bulletin.
I'm pretty sure on at least the lunchtime news they say 'Welcome to the
Lunchtime
News from ITV Tyne Tees and Border' so saying that is no different really. They will introduce as 'Good Afternoon from ITV News Tyne Tees & Border at Lunchtime' or words to that affect, so it's no different realistically. The idea of the regional news programmes having the 'ITV News' prefix has been around since the new titles having the ITV News logo above the programme name so it was 'ITV News North East Tonight'
In many regions the speculated change to 'ITV News [REGION]' isn't particular of note. West/Westcountry, Meridian, Anglia, Central, Wales, London will all just drop the 'Tonight'. Possibly West/Westcountry could turn into one of two possibilities 'ITV News westcountry' for me the likely option or 'ITV News South West'. Here in Tyne Tees, we'll lose North East Tonight in favour of 'ITV News Tyne Tees' I would imagine that wouldn't bother me to much I usually say put Tyne Tees News on anyway.
Granada, Border & Yorkshire are the regions who are slightly different.
Granada Reports is well established brand that has been around for years so it would be sort of a shame to see that dropped but it will now be 'ITV News Granada' which still keeps Granada.
In Yorkshire & Border going under the same principles then 'Calendar' & 'Lookaround' could be gone. The regional news bulletins would go under the name 'ITV News Yorkshire' and 'ITV News Border' (For sub-regional bulletins). I'm finding it hard to believe they would use 'ITV News Lookaround' for the 6pm & Late bulletins. In Yorkshire, though 'ITV News Calendar' could work well, also this is more likely as all of their other bulletins are branded 'Calendar News'.
Suppose we'll have to wait and see!
