The old thread has been archived, so starting afresh...
Got to say well done and thank you to the team at ITV Tyne Tees/Border for their special editon of their evening bulletin devoted to the outcome of the Raoul Moat inquiry. Comprehensive in covering the many story threads that led to, and out of, the events in Rothbury and beyond, and great to see the wonderful Pam Royle given a chance to spread her journalist wings.
Take it the Tyne Tees opt was pre-recorded tonight? Breaking news at 18.05 that Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has stepped down unreported.
Wonder if they'll tack it on to the pan-regional fluff bit?
Edit: yep, they have, bumping Cheryl Cole to the very bottom of the order no less. The perils of pre-recording; fair play to them for getting something to air though.
It appears that viewers in the North East will be missing out on Have I Got a Bit More News for You this Sunday - instead apparently getting a 25 minute (instead of 10) edition of Look North, and a documentary about the MetroCentre. I wonder what they'll fill all that extra time with?

Bearing in mind what happened with the BBC West Midlands part of the EPG when the Pope came to Brum last year, it'll be interesting to see if the North East EPG matches what actually goes out on screen?
(The WM slot for the Pope highlights prog was 45 mins on the EPG but only ran 30 mins. In the meantime Network was broadcasting the US Who Do You Think Are, at the same time, which was 45 mins.
This meant BBC One WM running 30 mins behind network & there was also a film on the same night, which would've been impossible to record properly on SKY Plus, as the slots were f**ked!)
the answer, it seems, was a considerable amount of padding. A big puff piece for tomorrow's Inside Out, plus plenty of local trails. And the weather in pillarbox mode - ARCed up from a 14:9 feed. I hadn't realised that some regions still didn't get a 16:9 SDI sustaining feed.
It was pillarboxed but in a strange way - only the left hand side had a black bar, at least as far as my Sky+ recording goes.
To be honest the fact that they've managed to record and play out that forecast whilst on air is pretty impressive, given the shoestring staffing this kind of bulletin usually has.
Ohhh new (almost) edgeless plasma screens on show tonight on NET... probably have been for a while, I'm not a regular. Not before time too, the old sets had the circa 2007 look burned into them.
Elsewhere, Look North devoted an entire 6 minutes to the whys and wherefores behind South Tyneside council's decision to remove "Catherine Cookson Country" from above the districts' roadsigns, complete with library-based resident outrage.

They were launched on January 1st. Not as bad as some regions where the GMTV sun can be still seen on the burn!

According to wikipedia ITV west and westcountry now hav separate daybreak and lunch bulletins, but here in the tyne tees border we only get a separate late bulletin? Does anyone know how this came about? And any chances of it coming north?
I think they're purposely trying to make it look like a night time backdrop. During the lunchtime and evening bulletins its just the usual white colour.
