Tonight's sport is being presented by Ryan Dollard from the newsroom in Carlisle presumably because Simon O'Rourke is off. Makes a very nice change!

The making of the ITV Border/Tyne Tees set:

The new sets don't give the impression of being bigger, but clearly they are from looking at that video.

At least they went for the option of the higher desk. I don't think the 'coffee tables' are a particularly good look.

The basic lighting leaves much to be desired. Loads shadowing and zero depth and texture. Simplistic blast lighting always looks horrible and leaves presenters looking like cadavers and blows out and colour on the set.

Dunno if it has been discussed elsewhere but former Border presenter Jonathan Willoughby isn't Jonathan anymore...

How have the regional programmes been performing during the Carlisle floods?

I'm guessing Lookaround have been able to dedicate the full half hour to the floods, at least last Monday? Whereas Look North had to also use some air time to feature news from around the North East?

I guess though Lookarounds' shared presenting arrangement with Tyne Tees makes live on location presentation highly unlikely.

Monday and Tuesday was live on location with Ian, the rest of the week was back in the studio. Coverage has been very good, better than I expected actually

Not impossible though, I know Calendar have done this before recently, I think regarding the school stabbing in Bradford, which only appeared on one programme.

OK. I doubt we'll know for sure but in situations like that if a programme is presented fully on location can both versions therefore be shown live?

If not I guess they'd have pre-recorded Tyne Tees and broadcast Border live.

Sad news today that Kathy Secker, presenter on BBC Radio Newcastle and former Tyne Tees continuity announcer and newsreader has died suddenly.

On Look North (Leeds/Hull) we've got the annual appearance of Paul Mooney doing the weather. Seems to happen every new year.

Does the opposite occur where Leeds provides the Newcastle weather?, maybe earlier this week?

I'm not counting the breakfast/lunchtime/weekend bulletins which I know are done from Leeds as part of the "Weather Hub" all year round.
