LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Brave ITN babe Nina Hossain read the news just hours after having a knife held to her throat in a terrifying mugging ordeal, it emerged today.
Millions of viewers were unaware that the beautiful brunette had been left traumatised after being confronted by a thug armed with a blade who threatened to kill when she went for an early morning jog.
The masked mugger grabbed the 30-year-old rising star and knocked her to the ground at 6am in the morning on London's South Bank.
He then threatened to kill her as he held a razor razor-sharp, six-inch blade to her throat before grabbing her bag and mobile phone.
The sexy host of ITV's main early evening new bulletin escaped with minor bruises and bravely went in to work the same day.
Colleagues said she was "traumatised" by the ordeal last week.
A pal said: "Nina thought she was going to be killed and was really shocked. She reported it to the police and went to work. She's a true professional."
A spokesman for ITN confirmed Nina had been mugged, but said Nina did not think it was "a big deal."
Divorcee Nina, born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, joined ITV from BBC London last November.
She studied English Language and Linguistics at Durham University, before gaining a Post-graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston.
On graduation she was chosen for a traineeship at Border Television in Carlisle. During here four years there, she produced, reported and presented.
In 2000 she moved to London to present on The Medical Channel, a business to business satellite service for NHS professionals.
A year later she took a post as a launch face of BBC London News, which began with a stint as a reporter/presenter on Newsroom South East. She went on to present BBC London's flagship evening news programme
