How about having the Evening News presenters names appear in text form below the ITV News logo, like the News Channel do.

I don't know... one of ITV News' only strengths is the lack of screen clutter - and making it more like the News Channel isn't a good way to go.

They could easily fit in an announcement over the main part of the titles after the first bar of the theme (the familar bit!) - just "ITV News with Mark Austin and Nina what's her name" would be sufficient and wouldn't interupt the flow of the titles.

Or possibly at the end where the 'ITV News' logo forms up, although now it would look like it was just dubbed on afterwards. They should've used the voiceover on the News Channel as well, can you imagine something "The ITV News Channel with Phil Gayle"

The best announcements in my opinion were always on a Saturday teatime when you got something like "The ITV Weekend News and Sport with Bill Neely and Felicity Barr". And when the voiceover bloke recorded new names they'd never fit exact, a bit like railway station announcements

LOL - I remember once we had ' The ITV Weekend News and Sport with Leyla Daybelge and Felicity Barr ' , and it was all in diffrent tones of voices, sounded awful !!

Yep: "The ITV Weekend News and Sport with Felicity Barr. AND 'Layla Deybeljay'." Lol!

Nina is doing very well, I tuned into her first Evening News bulletin - she seems very authorative.

I agree - including them in the end credits would be better.

However, if regional newsreaders introduced the national newsreaders as they are supposed to there wouldn't be the problem.

Nina has finally appeared on the News Channel for the first time, presenting this hour with Bill Neely.

Also notice she is down to present Hard Spell with Eamonn Holmes all next week at 7pm on BBC1. Presumably this will be pre-recorded - I doubt she'd have a week off so soon after starting, although on the other hand, she is supposed to be filling in for Mary Nightingale.

I wonder if Bill is doing the Evening News tonight, if he is maybee Nina will do the lead story as she is the regular presenter of the Evening News.

By the way Hard Spell looks as if it probably was pre recorded, because extracts from the programme feature in the trail on BBC 1. Looks like Nina is a big floating head on a video wall at the back of the studio, and she asks all of the questions.

No, Bill Neely led the programme - and hosted the 10.30pm News as well.

Must admit he's grown on me now - at first he awful when he started on the Lunchtime News, but he now seems to be Mark's preferred stand-in.

Steve Scott was on the Weekend News this weekend... He is becoming a more common sight on ITV1 now, perhaps he might pop up on the Lunchtime at some point?

Only two comments:

1) ITN and ITV Continuity do not announce the newscasters name at the top of the bulletin. So until I read the post above, I had no idea that the newscaster that I was watching was watching was Steve Scott. Their names should either be announced OR captioned. Especially the newer anchors such as Steve who are not yet household names. IT would have been different if it was Trevor becuase everyone knows him.

2) Nina Hossain is ghastly, irritating and wooden. Not at ALL suited to ITN Network and International broadcasts. I cringed thoroughly through the bulletin that I watched the other night, which she co-presented with either Neely or Austin. Cant remember. But, her walk back to the newsdesk after the headlines was totally cringeworthy and emphasised even mre that the format that ITN uses on its bulletins is crap. Sorry to be so crude and curt, But fact.

Favourite day out
Other than a day out filming for BBC LDN obviously - I like a nice veggie brunch in Marylebone after a quick turn at the gym, then a good go at the weekend papers in a sofa-filled bar.

Favourite night out
So many to choose from, but it would most certainly be a Friday night after an early shift because I'm so hyper. My current perfect night would involve a riverside stroll to see the twinkly lights on the South Bank. A nice port (now it's nearly winter), followed by a cheap meal in an expensive eatery - (after booking via the net). It would end with me dancing or singing. Somewhere. Badly.

Who would you like to be stuck on the Millennium Wheel with?
Alan Rickman

Favourite place outside London
Anywhere I can snowboard (including Milton Keynes), or snorkel, or the Isle of Skye.

What's wrong with London?
Nothing that can't be fixed. I think we should accentuate the positive: the river, the variety, the history. I can't imagine living anywhere else.
