Its times like this when i think ITV should get the old announcements back, ' The ITV Evening News with...'

Nothing ironic about it. I can't remember the last time any ITV announcer namechecked a newsreader (except perhaps before the Lunchtime News).

What ? I'm confused. What I meant is, she used to be a Border News newsreader, and I thought it odd that they ( Tim and Fiona ) didn't recognise that.

Yes, but the regional presenters usually namecheck the Evening News presenters.
And the weekend newsreaders are often namechecked by the announcers.

Well Lookaround usually namecheck, but didn't tonight. It's just odd that they didn't do it when a new presenter starts. Although she was at Border TV, I doubt anyone would remember her.

I remember back in 1999, when the announcement was "From the studios of ITN, the ITV Early Evening News with..." and the title of the edition was projected onto the ceiling. A lot better, as now every bulletin is just ITV News on screen.

It'd be ITN wouldn't it, as it's located in Gray's Inn Road - the ITN headquarters.
I used to like the old intro anno - it was great when they had two presenters on with long names, e.g. "From the studios of ITN, the ITV Evening News with Dermot Murnaghan and Marty Nightingale"...it almost finished after the music did!
