Nick Owen was just the royal reporter at the time wasent he? So i assume it would have been the presenters job to break the news.

Yes he was the Royal Corresspondent but im sure he continued to read the news during this time?

I think he was pretty much the regular weekend newsreader for most of the 90s!

Well on Sunday's anyway - Katie Derham often did the Saturday bulletins.

1996-sort of time, it was Carol Barnes on a Saturday, and Dennis Touhy on Sundays. Nicholas Owen, Katie Derham, Gwyn Jones and Anya Sitaram were also regular presenters (as Anya was ITN Health correspondant at the time, remember?)
