Just been watching the 6 tonight with Nicholas/Nick Witchell at the Guild Hall where Prince Charles n the Horse are now getting married after a change of location and he was hilarious, referring to it as the local registry office and you could also hear Sophie Raworth in the background laughing at his comments. Was good to watch cos I used to think he was a bit pompous but this was much better to watch. Also his aston said Nicholas and he was referred to both times as Nick, I like it when the presenters use their nicknames like this but wish it was more consistent. Its like the old Jules/Julia Botfield debate, it seems to depend on how well the studio based presenter gets on with the reporter as to how they refer to them. A nice report anyhow, I cant say the same however for Sophie's and George's clothes, have they not got a mirror at the BBC, they look so old & awful tonight. RIght, that's me done, I'll shut up now. Oh how old are you? Can't you just keep your comments positive such as Sophie looked fantastic tonight. Why bother slagging someone else off??? What is your point? AND to use someone's height as well just makes your post seem RIDICULOUS!

I think Sophie always looks good, but not as good as Moira, Natasha and Fiona.

It is beyond me how you lot always help any thread that you participate in, degenerate into a slanging match of the most juvenile type.

Everyone grow up here a bit, please (Hymagumba and other notables excluded from this comment, of course).

As well as offensive. Please can you just grow up a bit and refrain from using comments which could easily cause offence to others when used in that context. (i.e. the word dwarf being used to sound like a negative thing)

Going back on topic, a couple of others spring to mind who have their name shortened by their colleagues: Andrew Marr is sometimes called Andy by quite a lot of the newsreaders, I remember Michael Buerk being called Mike by Jeff Randall. I'm sure there are others but can't think of any.
