They had Matt Barbett reporting from Battersea, I don't understand why he wasn't presenting instead?

Well Ellie wouldn't be the only newsround presenter to go onto 'adult' news. Anyway, before joining newsround she was a reporter and occasional presenter for Tyne Tees so news for grown ups is nothing new to her.
Wish we could have Riz Lateef back on Look North NE&C too, really down to earth presenter

Is Ellie Crissell leaving Newsround? I saw her reading the news on BBC London this morning. Surely they can't be that short of newsreaders on that roster.

She was fine on the 1.30 bulletin. It was weird hearing her discuss "youngsters" when she normally provides bulletins for kids.

Interestingly, according to this BBC Press Office release, Riz Lateef is meant to be the new face of BBC London News.

Back to the topic in this thread anyway, I hope that Ellie Crissell is not leaving Newsround anytime soon (though not so long ago as I recall, she was being interviewed on Newsnight when they were discussing the subject of news coverage for children?)

Riz Latif was presenting on BBC News 24 the other night, im guessing that there is a shortage of presenters on BBC News 24, which affects all other outlets...

It's no surprise that after 2 years of working only in that style she's going to be stuck in that way of addressing a childrens audience for some time yet.
Still that's not a problem it's largely london viewers she's talking to so speaking slowly and not using any big words is just right for them.
