Technically this era of Newsround was probably the most advanced :

That opening sequence was done live - with the VTs in the orbiting tellies run individually and DVEed into the backgrounds live. Very clever bit of timecode slaved laserdiscs (one with a key, one with a fill) and Charisma, all run by the in house little control box that also did the "cut glass VR" blue One/Six/Nine/Breakfast and Working Lunch. Pretty impressive then - and now. (Not a huge fan of the music - but technically it's very clever)

Will be very interested to hear the David Lowe theme tune - I think someone (Pete?) said that it might be time for David Lowe to have a go at the theme tune so nice to see they actually did! The Broadcast article talks about how it tries to strengthen the link with BBC News, so will be nice to see how they incorporate the BBC News theme into Newsround, if that's the route they take.

Think Lowe era Radio 1 Newsbeat and some BBC pips with a sprinkle of the usual fabness.

David Lowe Newsbeat was 2003-4. Didn't last very long as instantly it made Radio 1's news sound like proper grown-up news which I can imagine robbed them of one of their key selling points.

The Newsround logo reminds me of the logo at the start of the 1997 sequence. It's also the first time the full name has appeared in the titles since the 2002-2006 branding (although the short-lived 2006-8 smartie-in-a-tunnel era had it in the "news in brief" section, weirdly).

A proper news desk? Seems a bit formal for Newsround.

If you expand on the picture, it looks like something similar to the Business desk on Breakfast, although a better designed version.

Not expecting much from this 'relaunch', a different background on the screens and a new logo etc but i don't see how it's going to look drastically different when technically it's the same set.

Looking at that preview pic looks like they are going to have the same graphics as BBC news and going to have a red sofa. I guessing they are going for a mini BBC breakfast look. Not sure how to feel about that. Will have to watch on Monday.
