They had the preview of the new look at the end of the Friday programme saying that they would show viewers around the set on Monday. Diana died on the Sunday, and the new look debuted on the Monday with that news, so no look around the set.

When it launched the set had a standalone screen (as seen), the desk with screen behind and a seating area with large 'N', 'r' and globe. It's still a set that I like, much better than the current. A desk to sit upon and a screen could work in their current space.

Interestingly (potentially), when the 2002/current logo launched, it reported the news of the death Princess Maragaret.

The era I remember best is the 1994-1997 period - I used to like the theme music and titles at the time:

Also the previous era's titles and music were good too (1990-1994):

Perhaps the time has finally came to David Lowe-ify newsround...

If I'm right you all have to stop talking about rotas. Forever.

That 1997 look is easily the best of the last 20 years IMO - feels just right. Good job Newsround relaunched that day as announcing the death of Diana in the previous title sequence wouldn't have looked great, though I suspect they had an alternative version for such occassions.

You know you're always right Pete, alas it won't stop rota talk.

I like the fact that has lots of social media stuff - this is probably a route that NR will be going down.

Social media is a problem for Newsround, many of the networks require you to be older than their target audience to get an account.

I think CBBC should have a nice revamp too...

The current music is IMHO great.
