Just been revealed by James Mobbs that Newsround is to get a new look in the Autumn. The 'nr' logo is to be retired after 12 and a half years in use.

I remember them asking for opinions on the radical new look to be "e-mailed" in and pretty much everyone responding that they hated the ticker. ahhh...

I thought the ticker was a nice feature, but I think it's the studio and theme tune I loved the most from that relaunch. All the sets they've used since have felt a bit utilitarian.

Is John Craven coming back to make it hard-hitting for children, like it used to be, under John Craven's Newsround, and with its offspring Newsround Extra.

For me that programme was at its best when the Challenger blew up on take-off - could you imagine today's Newsround team trying to take on that type of story in the way John Craven, and his team, did in 1986? I believe they wouldn't be able to, unfortunately!

This was my favourite part of the 'nr' era. Nice graphics and music.

Does anyone have any clue who has composed the music over the years? The original is well known and the most recent (2008 and 2014) are Banks and Wag.

And about ten minutes into this clip is a very serious theme. It's the revised version from 1999.

I was getting a bit worried that this was a CBBC clip without TV's Konnie Huq but she does make a late appearance in the Blue Peter titles close to the end. Along with Sky Sports' Simon Thomas and Prime Minister botherer Matt Baker.

The 1997 'look' came in to little fanfare, the day before Diana had died.

Day before would have been a Friday?

No, Saturday! She died just after midnight on Sunday morning. So that doesn't sound right at all. Sure it wasn't the previous Monday?
