All I remember of that occassion is the fuss over the red tie!
And Steptoe and Son being interupted with a BBC2 slide for about 5 minutes before the news report - in which time C4 and I think ITV had both broken the news!

Does anyone remember when Peter Sissons broke the news of the Queen Mother's death... stuttery on such a big occasion.

I used to be really nervous when he read the news. Now I feel really nervous when JAMES MATES is presenting. He almost always cocks up and can't seem improvise when he does make mistakes. Just awful. Over rated and over used.

Gerraint Vincent - excellent reportage, bad delivery - his voice doesn't seem to fit the bill.

Peter Sissons is USELESS with anything un-scripted.
Considering a few others:
Susan Osman - still popping up. Still covering loo paper and still fluffing her lines.
James Mates - another fluffer.
Chris Eakin comes across as a robot with no sense of humour. Not that it's nessecary but it is annoying seeing him.
And finally,
I suppose that Natasha Kaplinsky comes across as more mirror than camera obsessed.

At least Ms Doily improved slightly with her ad-libs after her time on BBC Radio Bristol at lunchtimes.
Before that, she was even worse, if you can believe that.

When did she do that stint on Radio Bristol, Nick? I first watched Susan Osman in c.2001, and she's always been fairly poor. Was she worse before I first watched her? She always used to do the Saturday night shift until 0600 Sunday morning on News 24/World.
I haven't seen overnights in ages - who currently does them? On the subject of overnights, what happened to Heather McCarthy? She did the overnights in c.2001/2002 before being replaced by Alastair Yates. Since then, I've never seen her again.
