News 24s operation (with fixed lighting, no camera balancing, entirely remote camera operation etc. ) might not be deemed worth the saving. Then again in the current climate it might be...

is that why a few camera in N8 glow green and have blue speckles on them and generally look dreadful?

Worlds relaunch cost a fraction of News24's. Ironic as BBC World has about 500 viewers for each one News24 has

Well they had to rebuild the whole area for News 24's and had to design the set from scratch, World just adapted an existing design.

BBC Breakfast is an important programme in the portfolio of BBC News and the editor wants the best for the programme and will fight hard to make sure that the accountants dont ruin it.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Oh my aching sides! How could anyone ruin the most dire drivel which has come out of TVC since the Val Doonigan show - saying that the VD show was more of a news programme than Breakfast (or Dog's Breakfast as I like to call it).

Scrap it, and lets have a proper news programme with the weight of the Today programme on BBC One - from the set of News 24 or wherever.

Well if you have been watching Brekkie over the last few days it certainly has been a really good, proper news service right up till 9 - however i fear it will go back to its news-lite format next week.

Hardly the week to compare given the devestating news this week. If this had happened at any other time - i'm sure that the programme would have provided a full news service up to 9.15 as it did during the American Elections.

Get rid of BREAKFAST! What a stupid thing to do! Not only is it the Best Morning Programme (TRIC Awards 2004) but it provides you with all the news, sport and entertainment you need in the morning.

Also are you forgetting that BREAKFAST is up against GMTV? Have you ever noticed that whenever GMTV is not running BREAKFAST is shorter and completely full of news whereas when GMTV is on then BREAKFAST is longer and has more entertainment news.

If the entertainment side of the programme was to go then BREAKFAST would lose more people to GMTV.

However, if BREAKFAST was to go completely, I think the majority of people wouldn't watch anything at all as opposed to watching GMTV.

Breakfast becomes newsier when GMTV is off because it is generally a bank holiday - so it is N24 lite.

Breakfast is a news programme first and foremost, and if what we hear is true will go back to being a sturdier news product - quite rightly IMO.

And so what if people go to GMTV, because there is less entertainment - let them. No matter tha format Brekkie has always remained constant at around 1m viewers.

And Breakfast also airs on N24 - so it has to get its mix right - it is not solely up against GMTV.

Bring on February and the newsier format.

Nice response although I prefer Breakfast's entertainment and news as it seems to be aimed at the 'broadsheet reader' whereas GMTV is more aimed at the 'tabloid reader'.

Did you say that the set is changing in February? Does that include presenters as well?

Yes according to 'BBC WORLD' forum memeber changes include a newsier format, and Bill and Sian promoted to the main weekday prog.

I like the sound of that. Are Dermot and Natasha going then and is there any place for Jon Sopel and Jules Botfield?

According to NickyS - not for Jon, and I doubt Jules will have much of a chance - I think that Mishal Hussein may be the 2nd female presenter.

To be honest, not a fan of Mishal. I'd rather have Kate Sanderson and send Mishal back to BBC World
