Right, later this year, BBC 1 News,Newsround,Newsnight and Working Lunch will move into a big virtual studio. The studio will be shared between all of the above but each programme will have its own attatchment. EG BBC News - red lights will be used. Newsnight - Purple lights used.
Sorry, but since when did you have insider information? You're just a fifteen year old.
It was part of the annoucement made by Peter Horracks. Although i do believe the set will not be totally virtual.

No, BBC1 News is fine where it is. It's VERY unlikely to move, not least because 10 O'Clock News and Newsnight are both on air betweem 10.32 and 10.33pm.
You are all getting slightly confused. There was announcement about one multi-purpose set but it was never confirmed it was going to be virtual reality ... it will be multi-purpose for Newsnight, Working Lunch, Newsround etc. There will also be a new set for nationals and Breakfast. As studio work has to be done you can expect temporary moves for various programmes as work is done. This will include Newsnight and Nationals some you may notice some you might not.
The public announcements, as I understand it, are that both of the main BBC One and Two news STUDIOS are to get new SETS, and as part of this move, Breakfast will move from the larger BBC News studio to the smaller one. (Originally it was planned to remove Breakfast entirely from a studio, and broadcast it from News 24's newsroom operation, but thankfully this has been avoided)
So Newsnight, Newsround and Working Lunch continue to come from the large studio, and the One/Six/Ten/Hardtalk/Newswatch continue to come from the smaller studio.
There will obviously be an interim period where all sorts of programmes come from all sorts of places whilst the sets are installed.
The aim for the changes in the larger studio is to reduce the amount of scene changes between programmes, thus reducing the amount spent on setting/striking scenery and re-lighting throughout the day.
That's pretty much what they did back in 1997 - the sets for Working Lunch, Breakfast News and Newsnight were pretty much identical save for the lighting. It's only since then they seem to have broken away and created more cost and work.

I remember they cannibalised part of the old Breakfast set for Working lunch about 3 years ago adding a bit to the desk and the goldfish bowl. They haven't done much to it since as all this uncertainty over who goes where has been going on for a while now.
TC7 (studio 7) at Television Centre is used for the following output - Breakfast, Working Lunch, Newsround, and Newsnight. As the studio floor is 40 x 60ft it is possible some sets remain standing. As for BBC1 national news that comes from a dedicated studio within the news centre. Also Andrew Marr's 'Sunday' am comes from TC7.
I understand BBC News 24 originates from a larger studio within the news area, whilst BBC World service news originates from a studio within the world service area of 'Stage 5' of Television Centre

It does. As for News 24 and World - they are not real studios in the real sense of the word. They are sets that are in newsroom's - certainly not like TC7 or the other studios at TVC.

I wonder what will become of the News Centre when it all moves to Broadcasting House It will be sad seeing it move out.
