Quite like the current set up of desk and sofa, agreed with other comments on the Newsnight site, about keeping the set dark and moody.
When the programme decamped to the BBC 3 News set it looked quite nice with just the big screens, and the plasma wall.
As for titles, would be interesting to see if they managed to do a classy, dark version of the ribbons, but keeping the great theme!
On an aside, I thought that it was just Breakfast moving out of the studio, but the site says that Newsnight is moving studio - presumably to a smaller one in the News Centre?

I believe the BBC want a design for a versatile set which can be used for a variety of different news programmes, such as Newsround, Working Lunch and Newsnight. It is all part of them saving money, at the moment the set has to be changed up to four times a day, the new set will mean minimal changes will take place between programming.
I think the sofa area and desk set works quite well, and could fairly easily adapted to make it versitle with other programmes. Where the current walkway gap between sofa and desk is if they were able to create a movable screen to fit in this gap then it would allow the sofa area to be used for other programmes, such as newsround. It's always struck me how much the studio appears to be altered just for a 10 minute programme.
It's all very vell Newsnight asking for ideas, but they're only going to have limited influence on the final design of TC7, which will be pretty much fixed, so that every programme using the studio will have the same set.
The lighting, (via LEDs) and titles/graphics are where they can be diffferent.
I love the current set with the sofas and desk. Mind you the desk is stupid and massive although it is at least a good enough size to fit people round it.
I must be the only one who feels that, regardless of the time of night reflecting the studio mood, a little more light should be injected into the place, though not to any great extent.

Does this mean that the happy little working lunch goldfish will appear on Newsnight?
So Newsnight is moving to a new studio then? Is it still sharing with Breakfast, or is that moving in with BBC 1? Forgive me, but I am slightly confused.
Right, later this year, BBC 1 News,Newsround,Newsnight and Working Lunch will move into a big virtual studio. The studio will be shared between all of the above but each programme will have its own attatchment. EG BBC News - red lights will be used. Newsnight - Purple lights used.

Sorry, but since when did you have insider information? You're just a fifteen year old.

No, BBC1 News is fine where it is. It's VERY unlikely to move, not least because 10 O'Clock News and Newsnight are both on air betweem 10.32 and 10.33pm.
