John Reid did do a lot of live tv interviews yesterday where he was given a hard time on Channel4 Lunchtime News but not so much on the ITV Lunchtime News by Nic Owen!

If anyone wants to watch it - it is 37 mins into that real link above!

That is amusing. How exactly did he insult him? The question was perfeclty fine in my opinion, then for some reason John took it personally.

Reid said it was the way in which Paxman mentioned him earlier in the programme.

What exactly is an "attack dog"? I'm from Glasgow, and I don't find the term particularly insulting. Confused

Reid is right about Paxman - stuck up arse who has an ego bigger than that bloody desk - and Paxman is right about Reid - genuinely dislikable man who is rude behind the scenes and charming to the cameras.

What is always telling about a Reid interview is how he butters up the organisation he's being interviewed by. One day I saw him do a Sky and a BBC interview in the space of about 15 minutes.

Sky: ''Well, like you, i've been getting most of my information from this from your excellent Sky reporters''

BBC: ''Well, like you, i've been getting most of my information from this from your excellent BBC reporters''

Nice.

Reid is an arse. One of my friends has met him a few times, and he is genuinely disliked by a lot of people. Very arrogant, very rude, very inconsiderate. Vicious and takes-no-prisoners. The attack dog description is spot on.

I think Reid has overreacted there slightly, perhaps a misunderstanding? Dr Paxman looked very embarrassed though!

I was pondering over what circumstances would prompt Jeremy Paxman to spit... and then I understood the thread title. I like Jeremy - one of the few people who bother to say "what are you talking about" when the discussion calls for it.

I don't like any of the Labour politicians. I thought my local MP was different, though -- until I interviewed him! What an arrogant arse! Rolling Eyes

Maybe they're just too similar to like each other.

He is an arse - and I apologise on behalf of the people of Scotland for him.

And why exactly is he ENGLISH health secretary again?

Also, why are half the Government cabinet Scottish?

Gordon Brown
Alistair Darling

Oh, and Ruth Kelly has the weirdest voice for a woman I've ever heard!

Actually, come to think of it, none of the leaders of the main political parties are English.

Blair: Scottish
Howard: Welsh
Kennedy: Scottish

Strange!

When Robin Cook was Leader of the House, it was a bit of a joke that...

The Prime Minister was Scottish, the Chancellor was Scottish, the Deputy Prime Minister didn't speak English, the Speaker of the House was Scottish, the leader of the Lib Dems was Scottish, the ... you get the point.

Something to do with the fact that the Scottish education system is so much better than the English one? I doubt it. I think it's just one of those things.
