I think we've found Piers Morgan's account - or the Russians are meddling in this too! Not something I ever though I'd see here but was thinking yesterday actually in this post-Paxman world he's probably the one interviewer who isn't afraid to hold people to account.

Honourable mentions as well to STV News for excellent work with STV News Tonight and the studio used for both that programme and Scotland Tonight; 3 News in Ireland for an impressive new set for their news programmes; and NHK World, for their Newsroom Tokyo programme and set.

Since I don’t have access to the UK I will produce an Americanized version of this list. I was also unable to come to a single answer for some of them. I also added a category as political programme.

Best news programme: NBC Nightly News (includes weekend editions)
Best political programme (thought I’d add this category): The 11th Hour with Brian Williams, Deadline: White House, Velshi & Ruhle (can’t decide which is better)
Best regional news programme (I’ll stay local in Baltimore) : WBAL-TV 11 News (all editions)
Best news channel: MSNBC (I’m biased as I am a liberal but its ratings have improved significantly this year)
Best international channel: BBC World News

Best regional presenter: no opinion as all of WBAL’s are great.
Best national presenter: Lester Holt
Best worldwide presenter M&F: Ben Bland (both during news and business), Katty Kay

Most improved in 2017: Brian Williams – after his public downfall he’s reminded me that he’s excellent at breaking news and political news.
Biggest disappointment in 2017: Charlie Rose – never would have expected there would be allegations against him.
Hard as Nails: Stephanie Ruhle (you should see her during interviews with politicians she doesn’t let them spin or change the topic)
Most missed but not necessarily deceased: Jose Diaz-Balart (Even though he’s on Noticiero Telemundo daily and on NBC Nightly News: Saturday when its not preempted by sports. I still miss his weekday show on MSNBC)

Best weather presenter: no comment
Best music package: The Mission – the special report cut gives me chills.
Best graphics package: NBC Owned & Operated’s Look N and the forthcoming Telemundo equivalent:

Best business programmes: BBC Business Live and Talking Business with Aaron Heslehurst
Best business presenter M&F: Sally Bundock and obviously Aaron Heslehurst

Overall top of the pops: Brian Williams (I like his personality and style)

TV Forumers of the Year: deejay, noggin, Hatton Cross and Inspector Sands (all for answering my questions and being patient by explaining how things work across the pond)
Hatton Cross, Inspector Sands and JamesWorldNews gave kudos
