Considering the first show announced is an entertainment programme, it's hardly Fox territory.

News UK already have a tabloid right-wing format in talkRADIO.

I think we know the news/opinion shows will come though. Indeed Andrew Neil himself has said he was approached by News UK. I think the entrainment show is just them testing the waters allowing them to get their technical side in order before they add more programmes.

It’s quite a clever strategy from News UK, because unlike GB News they’re not setting themselves up for a potential fall. Growing organically allows them to try out different formats that aren’t expected to be a success from day one. If GB News doesn’t hit the ground running, it’ll be painted as a failed project.

Didn't The Sun have an online TV channel at one point, which I think Gordon Smart was a part of?

Yesterday's story in the FT said that "Each show will sit under an existing News UK brand — such as The Sun, The Times or Talk radio".

It's not clear if they are just streaming as to why they need an OFCOM licence, it does imply at least part of the plan is to use (or syndicate to) traditional TV channels.

David Icke's People Voice network although streamed also required an OFCOM licence.

Neil has recently worked for News UK, filling in for John Pienaar on his drive show on Times Radio.

They also tried speech radio with SunTalk which like talkRADIO was all right-wing skewed phone-in radio. Jon Gaunt and Martel Maxwell were the presenters.

I don't think it required one, I believe they were eventually intending to launch on Sky (until the scam fell apart).
