Private Eye has an article about Smart's show this week, and also mentions that News UK TV will be broadcast "via little-known streaming service Rakuten", although the Press Gazette article names two better-known streaming platforms.
I still think recent posts in the local TV thread speculating that some or all of this content might find its way onto either/both of the main local TV networks (That's TV and the network formerly known as Made) might be on the money.
Well the fella that owns the Made side of the local TV network and the fella that owns the London local TV franchise both own rival newspaper publishers. Can't see that happening.

I wonder if some of the output will appear on Talkradio and/or Times Radio?
Yesterday's story in the FT said that "Each show will sit under an existing News UK brand — such as The Sun, The Times or Talk radio".
It's not clear if they are just streaming as to why they need an OFCOM licence, it does imply at least part of the plan is to use (or syndicate to) traditional TV channels.

Aren't the papers owned by the Made person just local papers? Can't imagine there's that much rivalry with Murdoch's national papers. The mysterious launch of Manchester TV owned by them on channel 99 seems conveniently timed for this. I agree that London Live is unlikely.
One bit of connection that this will have from talkRADIO is that Dennie Morris who is the programme director there is going to be involved with this project.

Strictly speaking, yes you are right. There are a lot of weekly local titles.
There are also some major regional ones, such as the Scotsman or the Yorkshire Post.
I suppose News doesn't have much or a regional/local footprint in the UK (unlike Australia) so they may not consider themselves to be rival publishers.

Calling the Scotsman a "regional" paper may attract the ire of some of our members north of the border! It's a national.
I don't understand why News UK are bothering. This new venture seems to be like a complete waste of time and money, and it looks like will be axed fairly quickly.
Did Murdoch say he wanted to challenged GB News or did he give up on that prospect once he saw what Andrew Neil was preparing?
