All these complaints lately about people standing up to read the news are ridiculous - really is makes no difference to the quality (nobody criticises Jon Snow for standing up), and I personally think News at Ten suffers from being stuck behind a desk.

Anyway - the Late News tomorrow, which we're led to believe will basically be News at Ten at Eleven, rather than an "ITV News" bulletin - but I wonder what the sign off will be - "The Late News" or just plain old "ITV News" - though I don't think that phrase has been uttered once this week on News at Ten.

Firstly, I didn't "complain". Secondly, whatever comments are made are not "ridiculous", they are merely subjective. Third, no one said that standing up or sitting down affects the quality of the journalism, but it does change the presentation . Which is what this forum is about. Fourthly, in what way would News at Ten be improved by standing up?

If it is to be the News At Ten, at Eleven, why didn't they try and fit in the branding and simply call it News At Eleven?

Or the better idea to try and get all weekend late bulletins the same time, and call it The Weekend News.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone know if The Late News will have the same titles as News at Ten, but with the clock striking 11, or will it have the normal ITV News titles?

Well, according to the trailer just shown on ITV1 News At Ten returns TOMORROW at 10pm!

You would've thought someone would've got rid of that trailer from the server by now to avoid playing it out at 01:20!

Sloppy!

Anyone think that Trevor was rather unimpressed with the 'And Finally' tonight?

It was Nina Nannar interviewing a London cabbie on how he saw the Plane crash... Yes you heard me right, that was it!!

I saw Trevor shake his head during the Closing tune... as well as mine to be honest.
It was brilliant coverage up to that point and they really pulled out all the stops.
But I don't think a Cabbie's eyewitness is enough to make a full report out of... especially the And Finally as well!

I assume this will be the one and only week Trevor does all four nights of the News at Ten.

Why on earth would you assume that?

A. It''s Trevor McDonald - he hasn't worked more than a 3-day week since 1986.

Er, not correct.

[B. They've got to keep Mark sweet by giving him at least one News at Ten a week.

Have they?

The best NaT of the week. Julie was good, and I thought Trevor on his own in the studio looked rather impressive.

Better ratings last night - this is from Broadcast:
Quote:
After ITV1's News at Ten put in a lacklustre performance on Wednesday (16 January) when it only drew an audience of 2.6m (12.4%) it was back on form last night with a much more impressive 4.2m (20.6%) over 35-minutes.

It still couldn't topple BBC1's 10 O'Clock News though from the top spot which attracted 5m (24.1%) at the same time.

Between 10pm and 10.25pm, when the two news bulletins aired their national news, ITV1 averaged 4.5m (21.7%) compared to BBC1 on 5m (24.2%).

BBC pulling out the stops for tonight, I presume in an attempt to emphasise their commitment to the Ten 6 nights a week.

Huw Edwards will anchor the programme live from Beijing.

Good to see the BBC are sticking to their promise of not chasing ratings then! Wink
